Table - best surf conditions forecast for Crackington Haven over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what Crackington Haven has got cookin’ for us over the next couple of weeks.
To be straight with you, the whole 16-day window is a bit of a tough one. We’re looking at a long stretch of small, weak energy and mostly messy conditions. The water is running at 64°F – that’s a good couple of degrees warmer than normal for the time of year, so at least you won’t be shivering while you’re bobbing around.
The first meaningful bit of surf shows up on Thursday, July 9th, but it’s a poor start. You’ve got a small 2ft swell from the west, but the wind is cross-onshore, making it choppy and uninviting. The wave energy is weak (90), and honestly, it’s not worth paddling out for.
Friday morning, July 10th, is the one moment that’s almost worth a mention. The swell is still tiny, about 3ft from the west, with a period of 9 seconds, but the wind goes glassy. That’s a rare treat. The energy is just moderate (104), and the conditions are described as “surfable but very ordinary.” For a beginner on a longboard, it’s probably the cleanest you’ll see all week, but don’t expect any power.
From there, it’s a long run of poor surf. The swell drops off to nothing by the 12th, and though the wind is clean and cross-offshore on the 11th and 12th, the wave heights are down to 1ft to 2ft. The energy is barely a whisper (22 to 57). The rest of the month into late July is a mix of onshore winds, tiny one-foot dribble, and very weak energy, with the biggest blip being around 3ft on July 23rd but with a short period and onshore wind.
There is no standout swell in this window. The best you can hope for is a very small, glassy session on Friday morning, July 10th, for the absolute beginner or someone just wanting to get wet. If you’re looking for anything with push, you’re out of luck. Honestly, this stretch looks more interesting for a kite surfer on a few of those windier afternoons, as there’s just not enough for a paddle surfer to get excited about.
Rusty.
