Alright, Rusty again. Here’s the same outlook but in feet and miles per hour, the old-school way.
Truth is, The Breakwater-St Ives is looking flat for most of this 16-day run. From Thursday, the 2nd of July, all the way to the 17th of July, things are bleak. There’s no real surf on offer, with only a sliver of a chance on the morning of the 3rd, and even that’s marginal.
The biggest push comes early on the 2nd – a 7 ft swell from the west, but it’s getting hammered by a cross-onshore wind around 16 mph, making it choppy and ugly. Wave energy is moderate at 607. After that it’s a steady drop: by Saturday the 4th you’re looking at 4 ft, and by the 7th it’s down to 2 ft or less. Water temp is about 61°F, pretty average for this time of year.
Wind is mostly working against us. The only clean window we get is the morning of Thursday the 9th, with a light cross-offshore breeze from the ESE at about 12 mph, but the swell is only 3 ft from the WNW and the period is 9 seconds – energy is low at 113. Clean but small.
The second week is worse. Swell heights drop to 1 ft and even less than 1 ft, with some long period groundswell from 18-19 seconds coming from the SW, which doesn't match the optimum NW direction. Wind stays onshore or cross-onshore, often around 19 mph. The combined energy sits in the double digits, meaning it’s very weak.
If you’re after a highlight, that Thursday morning on the 9th is your best shot for clean conditions, but the surf is barely rideable on a point that already breaks rarely. Not a lot to work with.
No standout. It’s a lonely flat spell for The Breakwater-St Ives. Forecasts can always change, but for now, you’ve got a long blank run ahead.
Rusty.
