The Lowdown
Right then, let’s have a look at what’s on the cards for the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, I’m looking at this stretch and it’s a tough one. The whole 16-day window is a real struggle. There are no good surf options on offer, not a single standout. The first break we’ve got data for is The Breakwater-St Ives, and it’s a point break that’s inconsistent even at the best of times, so a blank run like this is more normal for the area. It tends not to stay poor for long, and forecasts can change, but right now, it’s a flat spell.
The only swell of any note comes around Saturday the 25th and Sunday the 26th. Saturday morning sees a 5ft swell from the NNW with a period of 6 seconds, and the combined energy hits 295 (moderate). That’s the biggest bump we see, but it’s a short-period, onshore wind swell with a moderate breeze from the NNW, making for messy, onshore conditions. It’s a no-go. By Sunday the 26th, the swell drops to 3ft from the North, but the wind is howling from the WSW at 22 mph, which is a fresh breeze. It’s a cross-offshore wind, so it’ll be clean, but the wave size is tiny and the energy is weak (50).
For the rest of the window, we’re looking at tiny waves, mostly under 2ft, with poor surf conditions across the board. The water temperature is about average for the time of year, so nothing unusual there. Keep the board in the shed for now.
