Table - best surf conditions forecast for The Breakwater-St Ives over the next 16 days.
Right, let’s have a look at what’s on offer for the next couple of weeks here in St Ives.
Frankly, it’s a pretty bleak run for The Breakwater-St Ives. The whole sixteen-day window is looking flat and grotty, with not a single session that’s worth paddling out for. The first seven days are a write-off – tiny little 1ft to 3ft slop, a mix of cross-onshore and onshore winds, and the water’s sitting at 60°F which is about average for this time of year. The combined energy barely gets into triple figures, peaking at 140 (weak) on the 10th, but it’s poor surf conditions all the way through – lumpy, choppy, messy. There’s absolutely nothing to get excited about.
Into the second week, it doesn’t get any better. From the 14th to the 23rd, the swell stays tiny, usually under 3ft, with a few cleaner moments on the 14th and 15th when the wind goes cross-off, but the swell’s so small and weak (combined energy around 43 to 61 – weak) you’d be fighting for a ripple. By the 19th, it’s down to 0.3ft to 1ft, and the 20th sees a bump to 4ft but with a 5-second period and strong cross-off wind – that’s more kite-surfing territory than anything you’d want to paddle out into. The last few days of the outlook are just more of the same: small, onshore, and poor.
Basically, there’s no standout, no hidden gem, no window of hope. This is one of those stretches where the forecast can only get better, because it can’t get much worse. Keep the board in the van and wait for a change.
