Table - best surf conditions forecast for The Left over the next 16 days.
G’day, I’m Rusty, and I’ve been watching this forecast like a hawk. Alright, the next 16 days start off pretty flat and quiet. The first real surf worth paddling out for doesn’t show until Monday the 20th, so we’ve got a solid gap of about nine days where it’s mostly small and messy. After that, it’s a bit stop-start, but there’s one moment that has me chewing my tongue.
The Left is the only break on the cards, a solid point break that’s fairly consistent and exposed to the NW. The water’s sitting at 55°F which is about average for the time of year, nothing weird there.
The first real standout lands on Monday the 20th in the morning. That’s a beauty. The wind goes glassy, dead calm from the SW at 0 mph, and we’ve got a 4ft swell rolling in from the north with a short period of 8 seconds. The combined energy sits at 277 (moderate), and the conditions are glassy. It’s not huge, but for a point break, clean and glassy with that size should be super fun. Crowds are sometimes a problem here, so you might have some company, but with conditions like that, it’s worth it.
After that, the swell tries to kick a bit on Tuesday the 21st morning with 5ft from the west, but the period drops to 6 seconds and the wind is cross-off. It’s clean but short-period, so it’ll be a bit lumpy and weak. Not a standout.
Then on Thursday the 23rd, we’ve got a bigger pulse: 6ft from the north with a 10-second period in the morning, and the wind is light offshore from the north at 3 mph. The combined energy is 730 (strong). That’s a solid groundswell, and for a point break, that long period should set up nicely. But it’s a bit tricky – the afternoon has cross-on wind, and the morning is labelled “marginal” for tide or conditions. Still, a north swell with offshore wind on a point is a good bet. This one’s for the experienced crew: 6ft is getting up there, and the longer period means the sets will be punchy. It’s a promising one but a bit further out so less certain.
The other real highlight is on Sunday the 26th in the morning. Glassy again, with the wind from the north at 3 mph, and a 4ft north swell at 7 seconds. The combined energy is 208 (moderate). It’s not as big as the 23rd, but it’s clean and glassy, and the crowd factor might be a bit lower. Another fun one for the intermediate surfer.
The rest of the period is mostly small, choppy, or blown out. The 19th sees 8ft from the NNW with strong cross-onshore winds at 25 mph – that’s messy and only for the brave, and honestly, it looks more like a kite-surfing day than a paddle session. The 25th has 7ft from the NNE but with fresh cross-off winds, so it’s clean but big and a bit raw.
Best on offer? Without a doubt, Monday the 20th morning for the glassy, clean fun waves, and Sunday the 26th morning for a repeat of that glassy goodness. The 23rd morning is the big one for the experts, but keep an eye on the tides.
Rusty.
