Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s coming our way for the next couple of weeks.
We’ve got one spot to focus on: The Left. This is a point break, exposed to the northwest, and it’s fairly consistent. The water temperature is sitting at 54°, which is pretty much average for this time of year – nothing weird going on there.
Honestly, the start of the period is a bit of a write-off. The forecast kicks off on Friday the 3rd with a decent 6.2 ft to 7.5 ft west swell but that strong 22 mph cross-off wind is ruining it. Saturday the 4th is where you want to be. That morning we’ve got a clean 5.6 ft west swell, a 10-second period, and the wind swings around to a light 3 mph offshore from the south. That’s going to be glassy and clean, making it the standout of the whole period. The wave energy is moderate (561), and the quality is going to be very good.
Saturday afternoon the wind picks up again from the west, so get it early. Sunday the 5th offers a smaller 4.6 ft swell, but the wind is messy. By Monday the 6th, the swell drops right off to under 3.3 ft, and the rest of that first week is a mix of onshore junk and small, weak energy. Wednesday the 8th has a 5.6 ft bump, but it’s a short-period 6-second windswell with a cross-chop – that’s pretty much unsurfable.
Looking into the second week, there’s a glimmer on Friday the 10th. That morning brings glassy conditions with a clean 3.3 ft west swell (9 sec, 217 energy). It’s not big, but it’ll be perfect for a fun, clean session. Then Tuesday the 14th morning pops up again – glassy conditions, 3.9 ft west swell with a nice 11-second period, and a combined energy of 355. That’s a promising session, but it’s a week and a half away, so don’t lock it in just yet.
After that, it really fades. We’re looking at a long gap from the 15th right through to the end, with tiny swell and mostly bumpy winds. Nothing to write home about.
So, for the whole 16-day run, Saturday the 4th morning is your absolute best bet. Go get it.
