Table - best surf conditions forecast for The Bowl over the next 16 days.
G’day, I’m Rusty. Let’s break down the next two weeks for The Bowl.
Look, to be honest, there’s a whole lot of nothing in the first few days. The first real chance to get wet is Tuesday the 14th in the morning. That’s your standout. We’re looking at a clean 3ft swell from the WNW with a 10-second period, carrying a moderate 246 units of energy (moderate wave energy). The wind is a gentle ESE breeze, cross-off, so it’ll be glassy on the face. It’s a fairly consistent advanced reef break, and crowds can pop up sometimes, but for that morning, it’s the best bet. The water temp is 55°, about average for the time of year.
After that, it’s a rough week. Wednesday the 15th and Thursday the 16th are tiny and weak. From Friday the 17th through the middle of the following week, the swell gets bigger, but the wind is mostly cross-shore and fresh, making for lumpy, choppy conditions. The 21st of July Tuesday morning brings a 6ft swell from the west with a short 8-second period and a strong 427 units of energy, but it’s cross-wind and rainy – only for the hardcore.
The end of the run, on Sunday the 26th of July morning, shows another good window. A 5ft west swell, 9-second period, and 396 units of energy (moderate wave energy). The wind is a gentle SE breeze, cross-off, and the report says “expect good surf conditions.” That’s promising for a weekend session, but it’s a long way out, so temper your expectations.
So, your best bet is Tuesday the 14th morning. The rest is mostly frustration unless you’re willing to wait for that last Sunday.
Rusty
