Table - best surf conditions forecast for Aberdeen over the next 16 days.
Alright, let me level with you. It's been a tough run for us. Looking at the whole 16-day window, and I gotta say, it’s looking pretty flat and messy for the most part. There’s nothing that’s going to get the heart racing, and many days the waves are just too small or the wind has things all chopped up. We have a long, quiet stretch where the surf is basically a no-show, especially through the first week.
So, let’s start from the beginning. We’re kicking off on Wednesday, July 8th. The water temp is sitting at 54°F, which is actually right about normal for this time of year. Not warm, but not weird. The first few days are a washout – Wednesday morning has a tiny 0.7ft south-southwest swell with a short 4-second period and weak energy (1). It’s clean, glassy even, but there’s nothing to ride. By the afternoon, the wind swings onshore and it gets choppy.
Thursday (July 9th) is more of the same – tiny 0.7ft, short period swell with light cross-onshore wind. It’s just not worth paddling out.
Friday (July 10th) we get a flat calm with onshore wind and no swell at all. That’s a right-off.
Saturday and Sunday, July 11th and 12th, we finally see a bit of movement, but it’s not good movement. Swell bumps up to 2ft, coming from the north-northeast with a period of 4-5 seconds. The wind is cross or cross-onshore, and the combined energy is still low (15-16 on Saturday, 45-59 on Sunday). It’s gonna be bumpy and weak. Skip it.
Monday and Tuesday, July 13th and 14th, bring the biggest swell of this whole period, but that’s not saying much. We get a 3ft to 4ft north-east swell with a 7-second period. The energy finally cracks into triple digits at 105 and 121. It’s still a poor surf conditions call, unfortunately. The wind is cross-shore or cross-onshore, making for a messy, choppy surface. For a beginner break like Aberdeen, that’s a no-go.
After that, we drop right back down to tiny, weak swell from the 15th through the 23rd. There are glimmers of clean, glassy conditions on Tuesday, July 21st afternoon, with a 2ft south-southeast swell and glassy wind – but the swell period is only 4 seconds and the energy is a paltry 9. It’s flat calm flat.
Wednesday, July 22nd, has a bit more push with a 3ft south-southeast swell and moderate cross-shore wind, but it’s still considered poor conditions, and the energy is only 39.
The best of the worst might be later on, around Thursday, July 23rd. We have a 3ft southeast swell (6-second period, 47 energy) in the morning with gentle cross-shore wind, and then rain showers and a cross-offshore wind in the afternoon cleaning things up a little (41 energy). But honestly, for the whole 16-day forecast, there’s no standout session. It’s a long dry spell for Aberdeen. If you’re into kite surfing, the bigger, windier days might offer something, but for a paddle surfer, it’s a waiting game.
Rusty.
