The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on the table for Aberdeen over the next couple of weeks.
Straight up, I’ve got to be honest with you – this is a grim run of forecasts. We’re looking at a long, dry spell with barely a whisper of a wave for days on end. The only time there’s even a hint of swell is right at the start, and even that’s a bit of a struggle.
Sunday 19th July is the only day that might get you out of bed. We’ve got a 5ft swell coming from the NE with a period of 9 seconds, and the combined energy is sitting at 388 (moderate wave energy). The wind is a cross-off from the NNW at 16 mph, which will keep things clean. It’s not perfect, but it’s the best we’ve got. Later in the afternoon, the wind drops and goes cross, but the swell backs off to 5ft, and it gets a bit bumpy. Honestly, it’s a marginal session at best.
The rest of the week is a write-off. From Monday 20th July right through to the end of the forecast on Monday 3rd August, the numbers are just sad. There’s a tiny pulse of 3ft on Monday morning, but it quickly fades to nothing. We’re talking days of flat, clean conditions with zero swell energy (0). There’s a few moments with glassy conditions on the morning of Thursday 23rd July, but no waves to go with it. That’s a real kick in the teeth.
There’s a bit of a bump on Sunday 26th July with a 2ft S swell, but the wind is howling from the WNW at 9 mph, and the energy is pitiful (22). It’s a no-go.
For a beginner-friendly spot, there’s nothing here to learn on. It’s one of those blank runs that happens in this area, and the forecast just doesn’t want to play ball. We’ll have to wait for the charts to change.
Rusty.
