Table - best surf conditions forecast for Aberdeen over the next 16 days.
Hey there, it's Rusty. Gotta level with you – it’s going to be a rough stretch for surf at Aberdeen. Over the next 16 days, there’s nothing I can honestly recommend.
First up, Friday July 10th brings absolutely no swell and a light cross-onshore breeze just putting a bad texture on the water. Saturday and Sunday the 11th and 12th only cough up tiny waves of 1ft to 2ft from the NE with a short 4 to 7 second period. Swell energy is weak, under 50 (19 to 44). Winds stay cross-onshore, so it's choppy and grotty.
We see a minor bump on Monday the 13th – maybe 3ft from the NE at 7 seconds, energy in the 55 to 58 range. Still nothing special. Tuesday the 14th drops off back to 1ft, though the breeze shifts offshore from the east in the afternoon. There's a tiny window for a clean surface, but the swell is just too small to make it worthwhile.
The cleanest conditions come Thursday morning July 16th – glassy with a light easterly air. But the swell is barely 1ft from the NE with a 5-second period and energy of just 6. It's flat calm. You'd be bobbing around, not surfing.
Energy tries to climb again on the 17th and 18th, with 3ft to 3ft from the NNE on the 18th. The wind gets choppy mid-afternoon but Saturday morning the 18th has a light cross-offshore from NNW that cleans the surface nicely. The problem? Wave height is only 2ft and the combined swell energy is a paltry 19. Sunday the 19th shows a fresh cross-offshore NNW wind at 30 km/h but the swell tanks to 0.3ft. After that, from Monday the 20th onward, we’re looking at a blank week with no swell at all, even though we get some offshore and glassy conditions.
This long flat run is unfortunately normal for the area. The best you can hope for is Saturday morning the 18th of July, with a clean-looking 2ft wave from the NE. It’s not going to be memorable, but if you’ve got a longboard and zero expectations, it's the only show in town.
Be patient, and see if those forecasts turn around.
