Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Grab your board, but honestly, don't get your hopes up too high just yet. The next 16 days for Aberdeen are looking mostly flat and pretty grim. Every single forecast window is flagged as "poor surf conditions," so we're really just scratching the barrel here. The water temp is sitting at about 54°, which is pretty much bang on average for this time of year, so no surprises there.
We kick off Sunday the 5th with basically nothing. Tiny 0.7 ft to 1 ft slop with a weak period of just 3-4 seconds and a combined energy barely reaching 1-2 (very weak). Winds are cross or cross-shore, so it's messy on top of being small. Monday the 6th sees a little bump midday—a 2 ft swell from SSW, period only 5 seconds, energy at 20 (still weak), but we get a clean offshore wind from the west. It's clean, but it's gutless. That trend continues into Tuesday the 7th with a glassy morning on 2 ft SSW swell and 13 (weak) energy. It’s pretty, but you’ll be scratching for a ride.
There's then a proper flat spell from Wednesday the 8th through to Sunday the 12th. Totally dead. Nothing to ride. Just wind ripples and no wave energy to speak of.
Things try to wake up a bit on Monday the 13th and Tuesday the 14th. We get a NE swell at 3 ft to 3 ft, period finally hitting 7 seconds, and the combined energy climbs to 56-97 (moderate). That's the most juice we see. But the wind is cross-on or onshore (NE or E), so it's going to be choppy and bumpy. It’s not good, just less bad. For a beginner, 3 ft is okay, but the onshore wind will make it a struggle.
The rest of the week is back to small, weak swell from the NE and ENE, 2 ft to 2 ft, with onshore winds and energy dropping to 15-38 (weak). By Friday the 17th we get a little 3 ft NNE swell (period 5s, energy 53) with clean cross-offshore winds from the NW and WSW, so it might look tidy, but the period is too short for any real power. Saturday the 18th and Sunday the 19th are back to almost nothing, with fresh offshore winds but barely a ripple (0.3 ft).
Overall, there’s no standout session here. If I had to pick the best on offer, it would be Monday the 13th morning, when the swell hits 3 ft from the NE with a 7-second period and moderate energy (56) under clean-ish cross-shore winds. It’s the closest thing to a rideable wave in the whole period, but it’s still just a "make the best of it" kind of day. The rest is a write-off.
Stay patient. It tends not to stay this flat forever, and forecasts can change.
