Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what Porth Ceriad's got cooking for us over the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you: it’s a grim start. The first few days are a write-off. The swell is tiny, the wind is all over the shop – onshore, cross-onshore… just messy. Thursday the 2nd of July might have a little waist-high bump from the SW around 3ft, but the 16 mph NW wind is going to ruin any chance of a decent wave. It’s a tough scene.
This flat spell really digs in. From the 3rd all the way through to the 8th of July, we're looking at ankle-snappers and knee-high dribble at best. The wind is just awful, mostly onshore or cross-onshore, keeping the surface lumpy and bumpy. You’re better off staying in bed or fixing that ding.
The middle of the week looks flat as a pancake. The 9th and 10th of July offer glassy conditions and offshore breezes, which is a tease because there’s absolutely no swell to push through. It’s torture, honestly. That calm, clean water just mocks you.
Then, a glimmer. Starting Sunday the 12th of July, the wind goes clean offshore. We’ve got NNW breezes hitting 12-22 mph through Monday and Tuesday, which would be perfect if there was any swell. But there isn't. It's just flat with a nice surface. You could paddle a SUP, I guess.
The real kicker? We go nearly two full weeks with no decent surf. It’s not until Wednesday the 15th of July that we see the tiniest hint of life – a 0.3ft, 16-second period groundswell from the W. That long period (16 seconds) gives it some energy, but the combined swell energy is only 12 (weak). In glassy conditions, you might find a tiny, clean ripple, but that's it.
Even the last few days of the forecast (16th & 17th) are just tiny 0.3ft, long-period leftovers. The water temp on the only day it's recorded (Thursday morning, 2nd July) is 64°, which is a massive 6° warmer than normal for this time of year. That’s very unusual, but not much use with no waves.
Honestly, lads, there isn't a standout session in this entire 16-day window. The best day for a paddle in perfect conditions would be the 11th or 12th, but you'll need a longboard to catch a ripple. There’s just nothing to get excited about.
Rusty.
