Table - best surf conditions forecast for Porth Ceriad over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s take a look at what’s shaking for your local break.
To be straight with you, it’s a pretty flat outlook for the next two weeks. We’ve got a long stretch of nothing, with barely a bump to get excited about. The first few days are dead calm, with tiny swell and clean but empty conditions. The first real chance to get wet doesn’t show up until the very end of the run, and even then, it’s a small one.
The forecast only really shows a potential pulse of activity around the 21st of July. That’s over a week away, so don’t get your hopes up too high, but it’s the best we’ve got. For the whole 16-day window, we’re looking at a big gap of nada until that Tuesday.
Porth Ceriad is the only spot on the map, and it’s a beginner-friendly, exposed beach that likes swell from the SW. The water is sitting at 63°, which is *much warmer than normal* for this time of year—that’s a seriously unusual anomaly of nearly 5° above average, so you’ll be comfortable in a spring suit or even boardshorts.
The standout moment—such as it is—comes on the afternoon of Tuesday the 21st of July. We’ve got a 2ft swell from the SW, with a clean 6-second period. The combined energy is a weak 35 (moderate), but the wind is a gentle offshore from the NNW, which will keep the surface glassy. It’s small, but it’s the only window where the wave state is worth a look. The vibe is clean, the crowd factor is “often” here, so you might have a few buddies out, but for a Tuesday afternoon, it’ll be quiet enough.
Don’t hold your breath for the rest of the fortnight. The swell stays tiny, mostly under 1ft, with periods all over the place. The wind is often offshore, which is a tease—clean conditions with no waves to ride. It’s a classic case of “good wind, no swell” for this area. If you’re a kite surfer, the steady offshore winds on the 17th and 18th might get your interest, but for a paddle surfer, it’s a dry spell.
The only real potential is that 21st July window. It’s not a day to call in sick for, but it’s the one chance to get a few clean little ones. Beyond that, forecasts can change, but as it stands, it’s a waiting game.
Rusty.
