Table - best surf conditions forecast for Porth Ceriad over the next 16 days.
G’day, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you: it’s a flat spell and it’s gonna be a long one for Porth Ceriad. The whole 16-day window is a write-off for any proper surf. We’re looking at a big gap of quiet water right through.
Wednesday the 8th of July morning starts with a glassy sea, but zero swell. There’s no energy at all – combined swell energy is a big fat 0. The water’s sitting at 63°, which is a good 5° warmer than normal for this time of year, so that’s something to feel, but it won’t help the waves. The afternoon’s got a light cross-onshore breeze, still dead flat.
Thursday the 9th finally shows a tiny pulse: 0.3 ft from the SW with a 4-second period. That’s barely a ripple, combined energy of just 1. Morning has a light offshore from the NNW though, so it’s clean, but there’s nothing to surf.
Friday the 10th is more of the same – 0.3 ft, 10-second period in the morning, even weaker in the arvo with a 9-second period and combined energy of 4. Offshore wind in the morning keeps things glassy, but you’re waiting on nothing.
Saturday the 11th is practically identical: 0.3 ft, 8-second period, combined energy down to 1 and 2. Afternoon offshore is clean, but again, no wave.
Sunday the 12th morning is flat again – zero. Afternoon sees a 0.3 ft, 16-second period sneaking in, combined energy of 5. That long period is a groundswell signal, but at 0.3 ft it’s tease. Offshore wind keeps it clean, but there’s nothing to ride.
Monday the 13th brings 1 ft from the ESE with a 3-second period – combined energy 1. That’s junk. Afternoon has 0.3 ft, 19-second period, combined energy of 11. Still tiny.
Tuesday the 14th through Wednesday the 22nd is the same sad story – tiny 0.3 ft pulses, periods ranging from 5 to 19 seconds, combined energy never cracking 12. The wind is often offshore or cross-offshore, keeping the surface clean, but you can’t surf what isn’t there.
Thursday the 23rd of July has 0.3 ft from the W, 14-second period, combined energy of 5 to 8, but now the wind is onshore at 15-19 mph and there’s light rain and clouds. It’s choppy and ugly.
Honestly, mate, there isn’t a single standout in this outlook. No break worth highlighting. The whole 16 days is a flat, frustrating stretch. The only time there’s any swell, it’s too weak to ride. For a beginner-friendly spot like Porth Ceriad, it’s just bad timing. Keep the board in the car, wait for the next set of charts. Forecasts change, and it won’t stay like this forever.
Rusty.
