Table - best surf conditions forecast for Porth Ceriad over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s get straight into it for our local stretch.
Look, I’ll be honest with you – the next couple of weeks are looking pretty flat for Porth Ceriad. We’ve got a real dry spell on our hands. The first few days are just a tease with tiny waves, and then there’s a proper gap from Sunday the 12th right through to the middle of the week where there’s nothing at all. It’s not until Friday the 17th that we see a little bump of life.
Thursday 9th July kicks things off with a tiny 0.7 ft from the WSW. The energy is weak (2), and with a 4-second period, it’s just not worth paddling out for. The water is a notable 63°F, which is much warmer than usual for this time of year, but that’s the only highlight.
The Friday 10th and Saturday 11th are more of the same – tiny 0.3 ft waves. The wind is light and clean, even glassy on Saturday morning, but there’s no swell to work with. The energy is minimal (2 or less). It’s frustrating because the conditions are good, but the ocean is just sleeping.
Then comes the big gap. From Sunday 12th July through to Thursday 16th July, the combined energy drops to zero or near-zero. The charts show nothing. You’d be better off cleaning the wax off your board or doing a few stretches.
Now, Friday 17th July is the only thing that gets my heart beating a little. You’ll want to be out for the morning session. We get a 2 ft swell from the NW – still small, but it’s the biggest we’ll see. The period is a short 6 seconds, so it’ll be a bit quick and weak, but the energy jumps to 28 (moderate). The wind is cross-off from the NNW, keeping things clean. It’s the best we’ve got in this 16-day window, and it’s still only a beginner-friendly day. It’s not a standout, just the only real option.
After that, we slide back into tiny 0.3 ft to 0.7 ft surf for the rest of the period, with only a brief flicker of 1 ft to 2 ft from the SW late in the third week. The winds get messy too, with onshore and cross-onshore winds picking up from the 22nd onward, making it choppy and lumpy. Honestly, for a beginner spot like this, the setup from the 22nd with the 19 mph winds and bumpy sea looks more interesting for a kite surfer than a paddle surfer.
So, there you have it. A long flat spell, one small window on the 17th, and then back to silence. Hang in there, or head to the points.
Rusty.
