Table - best surf conditions forecast for Porth Ceriad over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here.
Let’s be real: the next 16 days are looking pretty dead for a surf. Porth Ceriad is a nice beginner break, but we’re in a flat spell. The water is way warmer than usual for this time of year, sitting at 66°F – that’s a big anomaly, over 7°F warmer than average, so it feels like a bath. But that’s about the only thing happening.
We start off Monday the 13th with tiny 0.3ft swell from the SE, period of 4 seconds, and the combined energy is a measly 1 (weak). It’s clean, but there’s nothing to ride. Tuesday and Wednesday are the same story – 0.3ft, periods around 16-18 seconds, but the energy is still super low. Thursday morning the 16th goes glassy, but it’s still just 0.3ft of 14-second swell. Friday the 17th, we get a tiny 0.7ft pulse from the SSW, period drops to 7 seconds, energy at 5 – still flat. Saturday and Sunday, same thing, 0.3ft. The whole first week is a write-off.
Then we hit a real dead zone. From Monday the 20th through to Wednesday the 23rd, the combined energy sits at 0 for most of it. Onshore winds start to pick up, and the swell is totally gone. Thursday the 23rd afternoon finally shows a bit of life: 3ft from the SW, period of 4 seconds, but energy is only 31 and the wind is a messy cross-shore. Not worth paddling.
Friday the 24th is the closest we get to something. Morning shows 5ft from the SW, period of 6 seconds, and the combined energy hits 133 (moderate). That’s the biggest swell of the whole period. But the wind is cross-shore, making it lumpy. This is a beginner-friendly break, and 5ft is pushing the upper limit for learners, but with a short period and onshore wind, the quality is gonna be poor. It’s not great for paddle surfing, but that size and wind might actually be more interesting for a kite session.
After that, it fades fast. Saturday the 25th is small and clean with offshore wind, but only 1ft-2ft. Sunday the 26th is back to tiny, lumpy cross-shore junk. The last few days of the month are onshore and choppy, with nothing to offer.
So, for the whole 16 days, there’s no real standout. The only time we see any moderate energy is on the 24th, but it’s short-period and cross-shore, so it’s not a true surf highlight. If you’re desperate, you could try the 24th morning for a messier, bigger wave, but don’t expect much. Most of this window is flat, and the area is known for this kind of blank run, so it’s not a surprise.
Rusty.
