Table - best surf conditions forecast for Porth Ceriad over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on the table for our little corner of the coast.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you – this is a tough one. We’re looking at a long, dry spell. From now, all the way through to the 21st of July, there’s simply no surf worth paddling out for. It’s gonna be a flat, frustrating stretch. The first real glimmer of hope doesn’t show up until Wednesday the 22nd of July, so that’s about two weeks of waiting.
The one and only spot that breaks the silence is Porth Ceriad. It’s a beginner-friendly, fairly consistent exposed beach, and it’s best when the swell comes from the southwest. But for the first two weeks, the energy is just pathetic – we’re talking combined swell energy values of basically zero to a measly 16 (weak). Tiny little 0.3ft to 1ft dribbles with short, weak periods aren’t gonna cut it.
Now, about the day that counts. For the morning of Wednesday the 22nd of July, we finally get something to talk about. The water’s much warmer than normal for this time of year, which is nice for a dawny. The swell bumps up to 2ft from the southwest, with a period of 4 seconds and combined energy of 14 (weak). Look, it’s not going to blow your mind, but the wind will be a gentle offshore from the north-northwest, keeping the face clean. It’s the only game in town, but a clean 2ft wave on a board you can actually catch is better than sitting on the beach.
After that, on the afternoon, the swell drops off again to 1ft, so the morning window is the one to target if you’re desperate for a slide.
So, to sum it up: the forecast is grim until Wednesday the 22nd of July. If you can hold out, Porth Ceriad might just offer a few clean, tiny rollers for the absolute beginner. For the rest of us, it’s a waiting game. Keep your eye on the charts, things can always change.
Rusty.
