Table - best surf conditions forecast for Three Peaks over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cookin’ for the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, I’m looking at this and my heart sinks a little. It’s a real tough stretch for Three Peaks. We’ve got a massive, blank run of poor surf conditions stretching all the way from the 9th of July through to the 22nd of July. That’s nearly two weeks of just nothing worth paddling out for. The waves are tiny, the energy is weak, and the swell direction is all over the shop. You’d be better off waxing the dust off your longboard and just staring at the horizon.
The first real blink of life comes on the 23rd of July, Thursday morning. We’ll see a little bump in swell from the WSW, pushing in at about 3ft. The combined energy is still pretty weak (60), but the wind is a light cross-offshore from the NNW, so it’ll be clean. The period is a short 6 seconds, so it’s not going to be any kind of groundswell, just a bit of windswell. It’s ‘surfable waves but very ordinary conditions,’ so it’s something to get wet on, but I wouldn’t set your watch by it.
The morning of the 21st of July, Tuesday, is probably the best of a bad bunch. Swell from the WSW at 3ft, with a combined energy of 60. Again, the period is a short 6 seconds, so it’s just a bit of lumpy stuff. The wind is a clean cross-off from the NNW, so it’ll look alright. But it’s still only a 0/10 score, so it’s not a standout in any way. It’s just the least bad option.
The afternoon of the 20th of July, Monday, has a similar little pulse from the W at 2ft with a 7-second period, and clean cross-off wind from the NNW. The energy is only 42, so it’s a very weak offering.
Look, there’s no stand-out session here. The water is currently a balmy 67°F, which is a whopping 8°F warmer than normal for this time of year – that’s incredibly unusual, so you won’t be needing a thick wetsuit. But for the surf itself, it’s a long, dry spell. If you’re desperate, the 21st morning is your best bet, but keep the expectations low.
Rusty.
