Table - best surf conditions forecast for Langland Point over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at the next couple of weeks.
Well, I gotta be straight with you – this is a tough one. Looking at the whole 16-day window, there’s just not much to get excited about. The swell is tiny, mostly hanging around 1 ft to 3 ft, and the energy is weak. The first real chance to even think about paddling out doesn't come around until later in the period. For the first week and a half, it’s all "poor surf conditions" with flat, weak waves and messy wind. There’s a real gap here from now until about the middle of the second week, so don’t hold your breath.
Let’s break it down. The action at Langland Point kicks off on Thursday morning, July 9th, with a tiny 1 ft west swell. The morning is glassy, but it’s just too small to do anything with. The energy is weak (20). That afternoon, the wind picks up and goes cross-shore, making it even worse.
Friday, July 10th, bumps up a touch to 2 ft from the west, but the wind is all over the place. The afternoon is the best of a bad bunch with a light offshore breeze from the NNW, making it clean. But again, the swell is just so small and the energy is low (40). You’d be fighting for a dribble.
Saturday and Sunday are more of the same—tiny, weak, and mostly messy. The combined energy readings are all two-digit numbers, well under 100, which tells you it’s weak. The period is short, around 7-10 seconds, so it’s windswell, not groundswell. Not worth the drive.
The pattern continues all the way through the next week. Monday the 13th sees a brief rise to 2 ft, but it’s from the east with a horrible 4-second period, so it’s just lumpy, bumpy, and close to flat. The energy is still weak (21-42). By Thursday the 16th, we get a glassy morning with a 0.3 ft, 14-second period swell. That long period is a tease, but with no height, it’s just a flat calm.
The real standout, if you can call it that, is Sunday, July 19th. The morning and afternoon both see a clean 1 ft swell from the WSW with a moderate offshore wind from the NNW and NW. The energy is still low (15), but it’s the best quality we’ll see. The wind is offshore, so the waves will be clean and lined up, even if they’re tiny. For a longboard or a funboard, you might find a little ripple. The water temp is about average for the time of year, so no freezing surprises.
The rest of the second week, from July 20th onward, is a write-off. The swell drops right back to 0.3 ft to 1 ft, the energy is in the single digits (2-9), and while the wind is mostly clean or offshore, there’s just no wave to ride. It’s a flat spell.
So, the honest truth? There’s no proper surf on offer in this 16-day window. The best you can hope for is a tiny, clean bump on Sunday the 19th. It’s not a good run, but it’s what we’ve got. Keep an eye on the forecast, because it can’t stay this flat forever.
Rusty.
