Table - best surf conditions forecast for Langland Point over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s have a look at what’s on offer for the next couple of weeks around Langland Point. I gotta be straight with you—this is one of those stretches where the ocean’s playing hard to get. We’re looking at a long, quiet run with hardly anything worth paddling out for. The swell energy is weak across the board, with readings mostly in the teens or low twenties (like 22 to 41), which is barely a ripple.
For the first week and a half, the surf is just about flat. The water temp is a balmy 67°F, which is 9°F warmer than normal for this time of year—that’s way off the charts, very unusual. But the trade-off is there’s no push. Swell heights hover between 0.3ft and 2ft, but most of that is short-period, messy windswell. The only flicker of hope comes on the morning of Thursday the 10th of July, when we get a tiny 2ft swell out of the west, but the period is only 9 seconds and the wind is light cross-onshore—not exactly going to set the world on fire. The afternoon improves a bit: glassy conditions with a 2ft west swell and a combined energy of 40, but the wave comment still reads “poor surf conditions.”
The end of the second week, starting around the 16th of July, we finally see a minor uptick. Thursday morning the 16th has a clean 3ft swell out of the east, with a light cross-offshore breeze and a combined energy of 33. It’s small and clean, but that’s the best we’ve got for an intermediate surfer. The direction is east, and Langland Point (Gower) prefers a southwest swell, so it’s hitting the wrong angle—still, when it’s glassy and there’s a little bump, you can find a fun wave. Crowds are possible here on a day like that.
After that, the final few days drop back to tiny 0.3ft to 1.0ft with some glassy or clean windows, but nothing that’ll get your heart racing. For a spot that’s fairly consistent, this is a long dry spell—feels like it’s gonna be more of a beach day than a surf day.
Rusty.
