Table - best surf conditions forecast for Langland Bay over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s take a look at what’s on offer at Langland Bay.
Honestly, it’s a bit of a flat spell ahead. We’ve got a solid 16 days of forecasts in front of us, but the surf really doesn’t get going. For the first two weeks, from the start of July right through until around the 22nd, it’s all small to tiny waves. We’re looking at swell heights mostly between 0.3ft and 3ft, and the combined energy barely gets into the 50s (max 50), which is weak. That’s the story for most of the period – weak energy and mostly mushy, poor conditions.
Let’s walk through it day by day. Wednesday the 8th and Thursday the 9th have glassy mornings with 1ft swell out of the WSW, period around 8-10 seconds, but it’s just too small to do anything with. Friday the 10th picks up a tiny bit – 2ft from the west, period 9 seconds, and the afternoon has a light cross-offshore breeze from the NNE, so it’s clean. But the combined energy is only 40-42 – still weak and marginal. Saturday the 11th is glassy again in the afternoon with 1.0ft, but it’s barely a ripple.
Sunday the 12th sees a bump from the east, 3ft in the morning, period a super short 4 seconds. That’s windswell, and while the ENE wind is clean and cross-offshore, it’s just not enough push. Energy is 27. That theme repeats for the next few days – small east windswell in the 2ft to 3ft range but periods of 4 seconds, so it’s choppy and weak. Winds are often cross or cross-offshore, but the swell is too short-period and small to get excited about.
Mid-week around the 14th and 15th, we see the east windswell pushing 3ft to 3ft, but periods are still 4 seconds and energy is 50 or less. The wind gets stronger too – up to 25 mph from the east on the morning of the 15th, making for a messy, lumpy cross-shore chop. Not surfable.
Even the long-period stuff that pops up – like the 19-second swell on the 13th afternoon – is only 0.3ft. Just a ghost. There’s a 16-second period on the 15th afternoon and 16 seconds again on the 22nd morning, but again only 0.3ft. All flash, no substance.
What we’ve got here is a long, quiet stretch. The water temp is about average for the time of year. Honestly, the first real chance of anything rideable doesn’t even look like it might show up until late in the run, around the 23rd, and even then it’s only 0.7ft from the west with onshore winds.
The only faint glimmer in this whole 16-day outlook – and I’m stretching it here – is Thursday morning the 16th. We’ve got a moderate offshore breeze from the NNE, clean conditions, and the biggest swell of the whole run at 3ft. But it’s still only 4-second period east windswell, with combined energy 40. It’s small and weak. That’s the standout, but only because the rest is even worse. For a more confident surfer, it might be a knee-high popple. Beginners won’t find much either. Most of these days the setup looks better for a kite than a paddle, given the small windswell and strong winds.
Don’t get your hopes up for the second week. The 17th to the 23rd is all tiny, 0.3ft to 0.7ft, mostly clean but not surfable. A big blank run.
So, in short: Langland Bay is in a flat spell. It’s one of those quiet summer runs. Things can change, but this outlook is a solid "leave the board at home."
Rusty.
