Table - best surf conditions forecast for Port Isaac over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you – the next couple of weeks are looking pretty grim for a paddle around Port Isaac. The swell is small and weak, the wind is messy, and there’s hardly a window worth getting excited about. We’ve got a long gap of nothing good on the horizon.
For the first few days, Wednesday the 8th through Saturday the 12th, the surf is just a no-go. Tiny waves, mostly under 3 ft, with a combined swell energy rarely breaking 100 (mostly 64-106, so weak). Winds are all over the place – cross-on, onshore, or just creating chop. Even Friday afternoon the 10th, when it goes glassy, the swell is only 2 ft from the west with a short period of 9 seconds. It’s surfable, but ordinary. Not worth the drive.
The water temperature is sitting at 63°F, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, so that’s something, but it won’t make up for the lack of waves.
From Sunday the 13th right through to Wednesday the 23rd of July, it’s a long, bleak stretch. The combined swell energy drops even lower, often in the teens or twenties (18-84). The swell heights are tiny, peaking at only 4 ft on the afternoon of Monday the 20th, but that comes with a strong cross-shore wind of 28 mph and a messy chop. That setup is more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing. The direction is mostly NNW with a short period, so it’s just not going to produce anything decent.
Honestly, there’s no standout day here. The forecast is poor all the way through. If you’re desperate, the best of a bad bunch might be Friday afternoon the 10th when it’s glassy, but even then, it’s tiny. Keep your board in the car and wait for a proper swell.
Rusty.
