The Lowdown

Alright, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on offer for your local stretch.

Honestly, it's a bit of a grim run for Trebarwith Strand. The whole 16-day window is looking pretty flat and messy. We're not seeing any real standouts, so don't get your hopes up for a proper session anytime soon.

The first few days are a write-off. Monday the 3rd has tiny 2ft to 2ft glassy waves, but the "poor surf conditions" tag tells you all you need to know. Tuesday the 4th gets ruined by strong onshore winds from the southwest, howling up to 22 mph, making it a total mess. Wednesday the 5th sees a bit of a pulse with 6ft to 6ft swell from the west, but it's being hammered by onshore winds at 19 mph. The combined swell energy hits 477 (moderate wave energy), but the wind is just killing it. On a beach break, that kind of wind and swell combo is more interesting for the kite surfers than us paddle surfers.

Things get smaller and windier as the week drags on. We get a few days of clean conditions around the 10th and 11th of August, with offshore winds, but the swell is tiny – nothing over 2ft. The morning of the 11th has a 19 mph offshore wind from the ESE, which would groom the surface, but there's just no wave energy to work with.

The only glimmer comes on Wednesday the 12th of August. The morning shows a 4ft swell from the NNW, and it's a "surfable waves but very ordinary conditions" situation with a score of 1 out of 10. The wind is offshore from the ESE at 12 mph, keeping it clean. Still, the combined energy is only 92 (weak), and the swell period is a short 6 seconds. It's a very ordinary, small wave, and that's the best we get. After that, it's back to tiny, onshore junk for the rest of the forecast.

So, to be blunt, there's nothing to get excited about. The whole 16-day window is a dud. A blank run like this is more normal for the area when the setups aren't aligning. Keep your gear ready, though – it tends not to stay this poor for long.
