Alright, folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what Constantine Bay has in store for us over the next couple of weeks. I’ll be straight with you—it’s a pretty lean run, so don’t get your hopes up for any magic sessions.
Right now, and for the first few days, it’s a write-off. We’ve got poor surf conditions straight through the 3rd of July to the 7th. On the morning of the 8th, things look like they might offer a glimmer... but even then, it’s only a 2ft swell from the west with a 9-second period. The wind goes glassy in the morning, which is a big positive, giving you clean conditions. The combined wave energy is pretty weak (87), so don’t expect much push.
That pattern of small, weak surf in the 2ft to 3ft range drags on through mid-July. The 9th and 10th have a couple of glassy mornings, but the swell is tiny. There's a shed-load of days in a row where the recommendation is basically zero. We’re talking a solid stretch of poor surf, with only a few 'surfable but ordinary' moments.
Around the 17th of July, we see a spike in the swell size—up to 5ft by Friday afternoon. The combined energy hits 251, which is moderate and a bit more interesting. But here’s the kicker: the swell period drops to a very short 6 seconds, and the wind is onshore from the west. That means poor surface conditions and weak, bumpy waves. That combo is more interesting for kite surfing than a proper paddle session.
So, what’s the best of a tough bunch? Honestly, there’s nothing that truly stands out. If I had to point to a moment, it would be the morning of the 8th of July. It’s small (2ft, from the west), but with a glassy surface, you’ll at least get a clean wave. If you’re desperate for a splash, that’s your window. Constantine Bay is a beach and reef setup, very consistent, and it likes a west swell, which we’ve got plenty of, but the wind and size just aren’t playing ball this period.
Keep your eyes on the forecasts—it won’t stay flat forever.
Rusty.
