The Lowdown

Alright, folks, Rusty here. Let’s take a look at what’s cookin’ for Praa Sands over the next 16 days.

Honestly, the outlook is a bit of a bummer for a paddle. We’re looking at a long stretch of small, weak waves that just aren't gonna deliver. The water’s coming in at 66°, which is a bit toastier than usual, but that's about the only good news for a while.

The first time you might get a chance is on Monday morning, the 12th of August. There’s a 4ft swell from the WSW, with moderate energy (302). The problem is the cross-shore wind, which is gonna leave the surface looking like a mess. It’s a marginal call at best.

If you want my honest take, the one and only standout is Thursday morning, the 13th of August. The wind goes glassy. That’s huge. You’ve got clean conditions with a 4ft swell from the WSW and 212 (moderate) of energy. It's the best window we’ve got, but it won't last long. This is for the locals who know the sandbars. Beginners will find it a bit much.

After that, it’s back to onshore junk and building chop. By Sunday the 16th, we get a bigger 8ft swell from the WNW with a massive 693 (strong) of energy, but it’s onshore and lumpy. Unless you’re a hardcore charger on a gun, it’s gonna be more of a kite-surfing session than a surf one.

Keep an eye on that Thursday morning. Otherwise, you might be better off finding something else to do.
