Table - best surf conditions forecast for Widemouth Bay over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what Widemouth Bay has cooking for us over the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, it's a grim start. We’re looking at a solid week of nothing much to get excited about. From now right through to the 19th of July, it’s a real struggle. The swell is tiny, mostly around 0.3ft to 1ft, and the energy is weak. The wind is often offshore, which would be great if there was anything to ride, but these are just frustrating, flat conditions. You’d be better off staying home.
The first real glimmer of hope doesn't arrive until Monday the 20th of July. Even then, it’s only just surfable. We see a pulse of 4ft swell from the W with a short period, and the wind swings to a moderate offshore from the E, keeping things clean. The energy is moderate. It’s a start, but I wouldn’t call it a standout.
Things start to look a bit more interesting on Tuesday the 21st of July. The morning sees a similar 4ft W swell, but the energy jumps up to strong. The wind is a clean cross-off from the ENE. The real pay-off is the afternoon: that same W swell holds at 4ft, with a period stretching out, and the energy is still strong. The wind goes light and cross-off from the NE. The water temp is a very unusual 64°F, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year. This Tuesday afternoon window is our top pick—it’s not massive, but it’s the cleanest, most consistent look we get.
Then we hit another dry spell. The 22nd through the 25th see the swell drop back down to tiny, knee-high slop.
But hold on to your boards, because the last day of the forecast, Sunday the 26th of July, throws a bit of a curveball. The morning delivers a clean 6ft swell from the WNW with a short period. The energy is strong, and the wind is glassy—absolutely dead calm. That is a rare treat. Keep in mind, 6ft is a bit much for the beginners, but for the rest of you, a glassy, clean 6ft at Widemouth is a proper session. The afternoon gets ruined by a strong onshore wind, but that morning window is the real standout of the entire period.
So, the best of the lot: The Tuesday afternoon session on the 21st, and the glassy Sunday morning on the 26th. The rest is a waiting game.
Rusty.
