Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on the table for Bossiney Haven over the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you – this is a tough one. The whole sixteen-day stretch is pretty flat and featureless. There’s really no standout surf on offer at all. The only break with any data is Bossiney Haven, and it’s a sheltered little nook that usually needs a specific angle to fire. For this whole run, the waves are small, the energy is low, and the conditions just aren't coming together.
We're kicking off on Thursday, the 2nd of July, with a bit of swell – 6ft from the WNW, period of 8 seconds, and moderate energy (461). But the wind is howling onshore from the NNW at 16 mph, so it's a complete write-off. The water temp is sitting at 63°, which is 4° warmer than normal for this time of year, so at least it’s a warm bath for a disappointing session. That small pulse fades fast. By Friday the 3rd, we’re down to 4ft from the W, period 10 seconds, energy dropping to 284, and it’s cross-shore winds with a light chop.
The whole first week just dribbles away. From Saturday the 4th onward, we’re looking at wave heights barely cracking 3ft, with energy dropping below 200 by Sunday and down into the 60s and 70s by Monday and Tuesday. The winds are all over the place – cross-shore, cross-onshore, even a bit of clean cross-off wind on Monday the 6th morning, but there’s just not enough swell to do anything with it. By Tuesday the 7th, it’s 2ft and 1ft with energy in the 40s and 50s.
There is a little flicker of hope on Friday the 10th afternoon – a pulse of 4ft from the NNW, but with a pitiful 6-second period, it’s just wind slop. The energy is 143, and the wind is cross-off from the ESE at 12 mph, so the surface would be clean, but short-period swell on a sheltered break like Bossiney is just gonna be weak and inconsistent. Not worth paddling out for.
After that, it’s a ghost town. From Saturday the 11th all the way through to Friday the 17th of July, the swell is almost non-existent. We’re talking 0.3ft to 2ft, periods all over the shop from 4 seconds up to a very long 20 seconds – but with no height, that long period means nothing. The energy readings are pathetic – single digits and low teens. The wind is often onshore or cross-shore, and even the clean moments, like the 17th afternoon with a cross-off wind, can’t make something out of nothing.
There’s one weird spike on Sunday the 12th and Monday the 13th where the period jumps to 16 and 20 seconds, but the swell height is 0.3ft. That’s a ghost swell – all period, no power. You’d be bobbing around waiting for a ripple.
Honestly, for Bossiney Haven, this is one of those blank runs. It’s a place that can be picky. The entire 16-day window offers no real surf. You’d be better off checking the forecasts again in a few days – these things can change, but right now, it’s a solid miss.
Rusty.
