The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you. The next couple of weeks are looking pretty grim for a proper surf around Manorbier. There’s a lot of small, short-period slop and onshore winds on the cards, so you’re going to be fighting for any kind of wave. But don’t write it off entirely—there’s a little window late in the game that could just make it all worth it.
The first real chance of anything comes around Thursday the 28th. The morning is still a bit messy with a fresh cross-onshore breeze and lumpy conditions, but the afternoon sees the swell jump up significantly to a solid 13ft from the WSW. The energy is strong, with the combined swell energy hitting 2524. However, the wind is still ugly, making it a real challenge. At that size, it's far too big for beginners, and only experienced surfers should even think about tackling it. It might be one for the kite crew, honestly.
Then, we get to the standout. Saturday the 29th is the day to keep your eyes on. The morning is where it's at. The wind drops right out, going glassy, and the swell is still pumping at a solid 8ft from the WSW with a period of 9 seconds. The combined energy is 969, which is strong, but this is looking clean. It’s still a big-wave day, so it’s strictly for the experts, but the conditions should be prime. This is by far the best offering in the whole window.
After that, the surf fades away again. The rest of the period into the second week is pretty forgettable. There’s some small, weak swell in the 1ft to 5ft range, but the winds are mostly cross-off or cross, and the energy is weak to moderate. It’s just not going to be worth the paddle out.
Water temp is a notable 65°, which is running much warmer than normal for this time of year, so spring suits are still fine.
So, here’s the bottom line: the next week is mostly a flat, bumpy mess. Don't get your hopes up until the 29th. That Saturday morning is your one shot at something special—big, clean, and powerful. It’s a while away, so we’ll have to wait and see, but it’s looking like the stand-out session if you’ve got the skills and the nerve. Otherwise, it’s a long wait for the next pulse.
Keep an eye on it. I’ll be checking the charts again soon.
Rusty.
