Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Right, let’s have a look. Carbis Bay is the only spot on the radar right now, and I’ll be straight with you – it’s a bit of a lean run we’ve got ahead of us.
For a beginner-friendly, inconsistent little cove, it needs a lot to line up, and over this 16-day window the stars just aren’t aligning for much. Water temp is sitting around 61°F, which is about normal for this time of year, so no worries on that front.
We kick off on Sunday, July 5th with some small, surfable waves – around 3ft from the west, with a period of 9 seconds. The wind is cross-off from the WNW, so it’ll be clean, but the overall energy is weak (132) and the vibe is very ordinary. Monday 6th is much the same: 3ft, clean but weak, nothing to get excited about.
Tuesday 7th morning goes glassy, but the swell drops to 2ft with energy down to 62 – honestly, it’s poor. From Wednesday 8th through to Saturday 11th, the wind turns onshore or cross-onshore, and the conditions get choppy and lumpy. The swell picks up a bit: Saturday 11th afternoon sees 6ft from the north, energy jumps to 562, but the period is a short 7 seconds with a fresh cross-shore wind. That’s a lumpy, messy mess. Anything over 5ft here with a short period and cross-wind is just a washout – more of a kite-surfing setup than a paddle session.
Sunday 12th and Monday 13th are still strong but onshore and choppy, with 5ft and 4ft waves from the north. Not worth the drive.
Tuesday 14th morning is a flicker of hope: glassy conditions and 3ft from the north, period a short 6 seconds, but the energy is still moderate (179). It’s surfable but very ordinary. The afternoon turns cross-onshore again.
From Wednesday 15th right through to the end of the forecast on Monday 20th July, it’s a long stretch of tiny, weak, or onshore slop. Swell heights dip to 2ft – 2ft, periods drop to 5-7 seconds, and the energy is mostly below 100, with the last few days barely reaching 30 or 40. The wind is either cross-on or onshore, and conditions are described as poor throughout.
There is no standout session in this outlook. The best on offer is probably the glassy Tuesday 14th morning, but that’s really just a small, ordinary window. If you’re a beginner looking to get wet on a small board, it’s doable, but for anyone else, this is a two-week gap of no real recommendations. It tends to be like this here sometimes – the area can go quiet for a while, and forecasts can change, but for now, I’d leave the board in the car.
