The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's break down the long-range forecast for Carbis Bay. It's a bit of a slow burn, so don't get too excited just yet.
For the next week and a half, we're looking at mostly poor conditions. The swell is small and the winds are mostly cross-off or onshore, keeping things messy. We're looking at a long stretch of very little action. The first sign of life comes on Monday, the 30th of August, but it's nothing special. The real gem is waiting for us on the morning of Tuesday, the 1st of September.
Carbis Bay will see a solid pulse building through the 31st, but on Tuesday morning, it's on. We're talking a proper 9.8ft swell from the west, with a period of 10 seconds. The energy is strong, reading 1555 on the dial – that's serious grunt. We've got a moderate offshore wind, which should make for some clean, pulling waves. This is the one to mark on the calendar. However, with waves well over 8ft, this is for the experts only. The lineup will be heavy, and it's not a spot for the faint of heart.
Looking deeper into the second week, Thursday the 27th of August offers a tiny, clean 2ft west-northwest swell with a nice offshore breeze in the afternoon. It's small, but clean. Friday the 28th bumps up to 3.3ft, but the period drops and the wind turns cross-off, making it less appealing. The big one is definitely that Tuesday morning swell. It’s a long way out, so take the details with a grain of salt, but the potential is definitely there.
Most of the other bumps in the swell are let down by short, weak periods or just bad wind directions. The ocean is pretty quiet for most of the window. It's going to be a test of patience, but when that west swell arrives with offshore winds, it'll be a proper session.
Alright, keep your eyes on the horizon. I'll be out there when it all lines up.
