Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at the outlook for Carbis Bay.
Honestly, for the next sixteen days, the surf is looking pretty flat and messy. The first real recommended swell doesn’t show up for a while, and even then, it’s a struggle. We’re looking at a long stretch of nothing special to start – about a week where the waves are just too small and the wind is all wrong. The first standout, if you can call it that, is on Wednesday morning, 15th July. But let's be straight – it’s not much.
The surf stays poor right through Tuesday, 14th July. We’ve got southwesterly swells trying to push in, but they’re tiny. On the 7th and 8th of July, we see small 2 ft and 3 ft swell from the west and west-northwest, but the wind is cross or cross-onshore, making it choppy and poor. The energy is weak – readings like 81, 75, 120 (moderate energy) – and the period is short, under 10 seconds, so no real push.
The only time things get even a little interesting is from the 15th of July onward. Wednesday morning, 15th July, we get a rare break. The wind swings to a light cross-offshore from the WSW at 9 mph, and the surf is clean. Swell is a tiny 2 ft from the north with a period of just 6 seconds, and the energy is puny (74). It’s inconsistent, and it’s a beginner break anyway, so don’t expect much. Still, clean conditions. The afternoon stays clean too, with a 2 ft north swell and cross-offshore WNW wind 12 mph. This is the best you’ll get – and it’s nothing to write home about.
After that, from the 16th of July through to the 22nd, it’s back to tiny, weak swells (1.0 ft to 2 ft) with periods mostly under 8 seconds. The wind is cross or cross-offshore at times, but the wave energy is in the double digits – 12, 11, 24, 34. Just not enough to get excited about.
So, bottom line: the one window is Wednesday, 15th of July, with a clean, tiny, inconsistent swell. That’s your best bet. Otherwise, it’s a long, flat run. Keep an eye on it – forecasts can change, and this area can sneak in a surprise, but right now it’s looking very quiet.
