Table - best surf conditions forecast for Duckpool Bay over the next 16 days.
Rusty here again, same story, different numbers.
It’s a tough start at Duckpool Bay. We’ve got a long stretch of nothing worth getting wet for. The first real chance doesn’t roll in until the 21st of July, so you’re looking at over a week of flat, weak, or messy conditions.
Through the first week and a half, the swell is tiny – 0.3ft to 1ft – with barely any energy. Winds are often offshore, but too strong to make anything of it. There’s a glassy moment on the morning of Thursday the 16th, but with only 1ft from the west, it’s flat calm. Combined energy readings are in the 20s to 60s – real weak.
Tuesday the 21st shows the first pulse of real swell: 5ft from the west, with energy jumping to 239. The wind is cross-shore, so not perfect, but it’s a start.
The big one hits Wednesday the 22nd of July. Morning brings 8ft swell from the west with 8-second periods and energy at 925 – that’s strong. By the afternoon, it jumps to 10ft with 9-second periods and energy of 1169. That’s a serious amount of water. The wind is light and onshore, so the surface won’t be clean. This is only for experts – the data says it’s predicted to be too big for this break. After that, it drops fast. The 23rd still has some size (6ft to 5ft) but the wind is cross-onshore and choppy, and the energy is fading.
So, bottom line: a long flat period, then one huge, expert-only day on the 22nd. If you’re not ready for solid overhead-plus, give it a miss.
Rusty.
