Table - best surf conditions forecast for Duckpool Bay over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s have a look at what’s coming up for Duckpool Bay. To be straight with you, the next few weeks are looking pretty quiet overall. We’ve got a long stretch of tiny, weak swell and not much to get excited about. There’s a bit of a pulse way out in the second week, but it comes with some serious size and mixed conditions. Let’s break it down.
For the first few days, from Saturday the 11th into the middle of the following week, we’re looking at small waves. Saturday morning brings a tiny 2ft W swell with an 8-second period, and the wind is offshore from the ENE. It’s surfable, but the energy is weak (44). The water is sitting at 64°, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year, so that’s a nice surprise. It’s not going to blow you away, but it’s a clean little option for a longboard or a foamie. By Saturday afternoon and into Sunday, the swell drops even more, down to 1ft and 0.3ft, with periods all over the place. The wind stays offshore, but there’s just not enough push to get a proper ride. Monday and Tuesday are similar – tiny, weak swell, mostly clean but very ordinary.
Wednesday the 15th offers a small glimmer. The morning sees a 1ft W swell with a 10-second period, light offshore wind from the E, and energy up to (42). It’s still small, but the longer period gives it a bit more shape. The afternoon brings rain showers and a 1ft W swell, but the wind picks up to 12 mph, so it’s a bit bumpy. Again, not a standout, just a chance to get wet.
From Thursday the 16th right through to the 22nd, we’re in a proper flat spell. Swell heights stay below 2ft, periods are short, and the energy is mostly in the 20-50 range. The wind is a mixed bag – some glassy moments on Thursday afternoon, but mostly cross-off or cross-shore breezes. It’s not going to be worth the drive unless you’re desperate for a paddle.
Now, there’s a big change coming on Thursday the 24th of July. That morning, a 7ft W swell rolls in with a 6-second period, and energy jumps to (324). That’s a moderate push, but the wind is onshore from the W, so it’s going to be messy. The afternoon kicks it up a notch – a 10ft W swell with a 9-second period and massive energy of (1626). The wind shifts to cross-on from the NW, but the wave comment says it’s predicted to be too big for this break. That’s a lot of water moving, and Duckpool Bay is an exposed spot. This is strictly for experts only, and even then, it’s going to be a wild, churning mess. The period is short, so it’s not a clean groundswell, and with onshore wind, it’ll be hard work.
Friday the 25th sees the swell drop back to 5ft, with a 10-second period, and light cross-shore wind from the NNW. Energy is still high at (505). The conditions are described as marginal, with questionable tide conditions, so it’s not a guarantee. The afternoon gets worse with onshore wind.
Saturday the 26th and Sunday the 27th fade back to smaller, weaker swell with cross-on breezes.
So, the honest truth? There’s no standout session in this 16-day window. The best bet is that small, clean morning on Saturday the 11th if you’re just after a gentle paddle, or maybe the later morning on Wednesday the 15th for a slightly better shaped wave. The big swell on the 24th is too much for this place and the wind is wrong. Keep an eye on the forecasts, things can change, but right now, it’s a lean run.
