Table - best surf conditions forecast for Duckpool Bay over the next 16 days.
Hey, Rusty here. Look, I'm not gonna lie to you – this next couple of weeks at Duckpool Bay is a tough watch. Don't expect much at all for a long stretch. We've got a decent little window that kicks off this Wednesday morning (8th July), but after that, there's a massive, frustrating gap with just nothing worth paddling out for.
Let's start with the only real bright spot. Wednesday morning. The water's a touch warmer than normal at 63°. The wind is dead glassy out of the west, and we've got a clean 2ft swell from the west with a 9-second period. The combined energy is weak at 60, but for a tiny, clean wave, it'll be fun on a log or a fish. It's inconsistent here, so you'll be waiting, but with glassy conditions, it's your best chance for a few clean little peelers. Just be aware crowds are possible.
That's it for the first week. That afternoon the wind swings onshore and it's poor, and things go downhill fast. We get a bit of cross-offshore wind and a little more energy on Friday morning (10th July) with 3ft from the west (combined energy 110), but the quality is still very ordinary. Then we hit a dead zone. From Saturday the 11th through to Saturday the 18th, it's tiny, weak, or blown out. There's a morning on the 12th with a 16-second period groundswell, but at 0.3ft it's just not surfable. This is going to be a long, flat spell.
Now, if you're patient, things get a bit more interesting heading into the second week. Sunday morning the 19th shows a small bump of 4ft from the northwest with a short 5-second period, clean with cross-offshore wind. Not great, but it's a wave. The standout, and the one you should really circle, is Monday morning the 20th of July. We've got a 5ft swell from the north-northwest, a 6-second period, and combined energy of 231 – that's a solid pulse of moderate energy. The wind is clean out of the northeast, and the forecast says "expect good surf conditions." That's the one to wait for. It might be a bit dumpy on the beach at that short period, but it'll have some push.
After that, the wind turns against us and the swell drops back off. A few tiny pulses show up, but nothing that'll get the heart rate up.
Sorry, folks. This is one of those stretches where the ocean just isn't cooperating. Hold out for that Monday morning on the 20th.
Rusty.
