The Lowdown
Hey crew, Rusty checkin’ in. I’ve combed through the outlook for Doc Browns, and I’m telling ya, there’s no surf worth paddling out for over the next two and a half weeks. From Monday July 13 right through to Tuesday July 28, every single session is a dud. Doc Browns is a reef and point that’s already inconsistent and sheltered, so a dry spell like this is pretty normal around these parts. Water temp is 67°F, which is a notable 5°F warmer than the usual July average – real balmy.
Monday afternoon (13 July) shows a 5-ft south swell with a short 5-second period, but a 22 mph southerly cross-on wind makes it messy and lumpy. The combined energy is weak (147). Not a chance. Tuesday morning (14 July) drops to 3-ft from the SSW, period 6 seconds, with a 12 mph WSW cross-off wind – cleaner but still tiny and poor. From Wednesday onward, the swell flatlines under 2 ft most days, with periods from 4 to 15 seconds. Thursday 16 July has a 15-second SE groundswell but only 0.3 ft – you’d need a microscope. Winds are mostly cross-on or onshore, with a few offshore slots on Wednesday 15 July and Friday 17 July, but zero height kills any hope.
The best you’ll see is Sunday 26 July morning: glassy conditions with a light 3 mph NE breeze, a 2-ft SSE swell at 6 seconds, and energy a weak 50. That’s knee-high at best. Monday 27 July has 3-ft SSE swell at 7 seconds with light cross-on winds – still too small to bother.
Plain and simple: Doc Browns is dead flat for the whole 16 days. The break hardly ever lights up, and this forecast confirms it. Hang loose and check back later – conditions shift fast around here. Rusty
