The Lowdown

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what the next couple of weeks have in store for us. We’ve only got one spot on the radar for this entire stretch, and it’s a solid one if you’ve got the skills.

The standout for the whole period is The Bombie. This is a serious reef break, so it's strictly for the advanced crew. The main action kicks off on Tuesday the 18th of August and keeps pumping through with hardly a break. We’re looking at a long run of solid, groundswell energy with moderate offshore winds that are going to keep things clean. Water temps are sitting at 78°, which is just a touch cooler than normal for this time of year, but still comfortable.

The pick of the bunch has to be Wednesday the 19th of August. The swell builds to a powerful 8ft to 8ft from the SSW, with a long, drawn-out period of 17 to 18 seconds. The combined energy is massive, clocking in at 3575 to 4125, and with those clean offshore ESE winds, this is going to be a full-on, world-class session for those who can handle it. Thursday afternoon the 20th is another beauty with 8ft SSW swell, 16-second period, and 3131 energy under offshore winds. Just keep in mind, this spot can draw a crowd, and it's only for experts—over 8ft things get real heavy.

The size backs off a touch into the weekend and following week, but the quality holds. From Friday the 21st through to Monday the 24th, we’ve got consistent 6ft to 8ft SSW swell with offshore winds. A solid run for advanced surfers. The energy stays in the moderate to strong range, hovering between 1629 and 3289.

There’s a slight dip in size around the 26th and 27th of August, with the swell dropping to 5ft and 5ft and periods shortening a bit, but still clean and fun under offshore breeze. The energy drops below 1000 briefly, but it picks right back up.

From the 28th of August right through to the 2nd of September, we get another solid push. Mornings and afternoons consistently offer 6ft to 7ft SSW groundswell, with clean offshore winds. The energy builds back up strongly, particularly on the 2nd of September, hitting 2260. If you miss the early peak, this late run is a very promising second act.

So, the bottom line: one break, two weeks, and plenty of proper waves for those with the nerve. The early part of the first week is the absolute standout—don't sleep on it.

Rusty.
