The Lowdown
Alright, let’s be straight with you. This is a tough one.
The forecast for the next 16 days is a real flat spell. There are no good surf options on the table at all. Nothing. The swell is basically non-existent for the entire period, with wave heights barely scraping a tiny 0.7ft and combined energy readings that are minuscule, often in single digits. It’s the kind of run that’s all too common for this area when the ocean just shuts down.
The Boiler is a reef break that’s already inconsistent, and it’s not even going to break properly. You’ll see a few tiny pulses of swell from the SW and W, but the energy is so weak you’d be fighting for a knee-high ripple. The only positive note is that there are plenty of glassy or offshore windows, especially on the mornings of the 17th, 20th, and the afternoon of the 15th of July, but with nothing to ride, clean conditions are just a tease. The water temperature is about average for the time of year.
From the 15th of July right through to the 30th, this is a total write-off for paddle surfing. If you’ve got a kite, some of those breezier afternoons with a bit of cross-shore wind might look more interesting, but for a surfboard? You’re better off staying home. It’s a blank run, and it’s pretty normal for the area when the swell windows just don’t line up. Forecasts can change, but right now, there’s nothing to get excited about.
