Alright, I’ll put it in terms you can feel. The Boiler is staring at a dead flat spell for the next 16 days – don't get your hopes up.
The first hint of anything comes on Tuesday, July 7th, but it’s heartbreakingly small. We’re talking 1ft dribble from the WSW, with a wave energy of just 22 – that’s nothing. The water’s weirdly warm at 68°F, a full 9°F above normal, which is a real standout. But there’s no juice. Tuesday morning has a cross-shore wind at 9 mph messing it up, and the afternoon is the same with 12 mph winds. Just chop.
Wednesday the 8th and Thursday the 9th are a joke. You get 1ft to 1ft waves. Sure, Thursday morning is glassy – not a breath of wind – but the swell is so weak (energy of 17) you can barely get a ripple. Friday the 10th offers 2ft from the west, period of 9 seconds, and the energy creeps up to 40 or so. It’s still knee-high slop, and the morning has a light cross-onshore breeze.
From Saturday the 11th all the way to Wednesday, July 22nd, it’s a desert. The biggest wave we see is about 2ft on a few days, but most of the time it’s under 1ft. The swell is a mix of weak, short-period windswell (3 to 5 seconds) and a couple of long-period pulses from the SW going 16-19 seconds, but they’re so tiny they don’t break. Energy readings are stuck in the teens and low 30s – pathetic.
The last week, from July 18th to the 22nd, is the worst of it: waves drop to 0.3ft to 0.7ft with onshore winds making it a choppy mess. There’s one glassy morning on July 22nd with 0.7ft from the west, but that’s it.
The Boiler is an inconsistent reef, and this stretch proves it. There’s zero rideable surf in the whole 16-day window. It’s a complete blank run – leave the gear at home.
