Table - best surf conditions forecast for The Boiler over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at the Boiler for the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, it's a pretty rough run for this spot. The Boiler is an inconsistent reef break, and the next week and a bit is looking flat and gloomy for any proper surf. The first real sign of life doesn't show up until Wednesday, July 22nd.
We’ve got a long stretch of nothing from Friday, July 10th, all the way through to Tuesday, July 21st. It’s not a single day in there worth mentioning – just tiny dribbles of swell with weak energy, often in the single digits. For example, on that Friday afternoon, we’re looking at a tiny 2 ft swell from the west, with energy so low you’d be floating more than surfing. The water’s sitting at 68°F, which is a whopping 9°F warmer than normal for this time of year – very unusual, and it adds to the overall sleepy, summer feeling.
The only faint glimmer of hope comes on the morning of Wednesday, July 22nd. We get a pulse of 5 ft swell from the west, with moderate wave energy. The wind is offshore from the north at 9 mph, cleaning it up real nice. It’s glassy and the offshore flow should hold for the morning. The swell period is short at 7 seconds, so it’s windswell and a bit weak, but at least it's surfable after all that flatness. The crowd factor says “sometimes,” so you might have company, but for a break that’s rarely breaking, this is the one window to jump on.
By Thursday, July 23rd, the swell dips a bit to 4 ft and gets glassy, but the energy drops back to moderate.
Then it all goes pear-shaped. By Friday morning, July 24th, a massive 12 ft swell arrives from the west-southwest with a long 10-second period and insane energy. The wind is cross-onshore and lumpy. I’d call that a kite-surf day. The afternoon pushes to a monstrous 13 ft, which is huge and messy. Saturday, July 25th is still a solid 7 ft to 7 ft, but the conditions stay cross-onshore and choppy. Total cleanup.
So here’s the bottom line: the whole 16-day window is a bust except for one gem. If you’re flexible, get to the Boiler on the morning of Wednesday, July 22nd. It's the only true standout, and it's not even big – just your best chance at a clean wave in this part of the coast.
Stay salty,
Rusty.
