Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, I’ve been staring at the charts for North Street, and I gotta be straight with ya – it’s been a tough stretch. The first week and a half is mostly a write-off. We’ve got a long, dry gap running from now all the way through the first half of July where the waves just aren’t happening. The wind is all over the place, creating messy cross-shore chop, onshore slop, and just generally poor conditions. You’re looking at a solid 7 or 8 days of nothing to get excited about.
But, there’s a flicker of hope on Monday the 13th. Early that morning, things finally come together. We’ve got a clean 6ft swell rolling in from the east, and the wind is a light cross-offshore breeze from the north-northeast. The wave energy is strong, hitting about 293, so there’s some real push behind it. The water temperature is way warmer than normal for this time of year, sitting at a balmy 77°, which is a nice treat. That Monday morning session is the standout of the entire forecast period – the conditions will be clean, and the swell has some size to it. It’s not a beginner wave at that height, so intermediate and up are the crew for this one.
After that, it gets messy again. Tuesday the 14th has a bigger 7ft swell from the east with a huge energy reading of 907, but the wind is a cross-shore, and the forecast calls it “marginal.” That’s too big for beginners and only for the experienced, but the conditions won’t be perfect. For the rest of the second week, we see a few clean windows from the west wind, especially around Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning, but the swell drops right down to tiny 2ft to 2ft stuff with low energy. Not worth paddling out for unless you’re desperate for a glide on a log.
The very end of the run, on Sunday the 19th morning, shows another tiny glassy window with 2ft from the south-southeast, but again, it’s weak. For the best bet, it’s all about that Monday the 13th morning session at North Street.
