The Lowdown
Alright, let’s call it like I see it for Mar Bravo. The next 16 days, right through to the 21st of August, are a total bust for any decent surf. There’s absolutely nothing worth paddling out for.
Yeah, there’s swell in the water, but it’s all short-period, junk windswell from the ENE and NE, with periods between 5 and 7 seconds. That ain’t gonna make a wave worth riding. And the wind is the real killer – it’s hammering from the east and northeast, cross-on or onshore, at 12 to 19 mph, all day, every day. That’s gonna leave the surface all chopped up and lumpy. The water’s sitting at 82°, a touch warmer than usual, but that’s the only silver lining.
The combined energy will get up there, hitting 177 (moderate) on Saturday morning, and it stays in the triple digits for a stretch, but it doesn’t matter when the wind’s ruining it. With this constant onshore breeze and lumpy sea, this spot is looking way more fun for a kite than a paddle board.
It’s a long, dry spell. There’s no standout session, no hidden corner to go find. Sometimes you just get a blank forecast, and this is one of those times. The swell height stays between 3 ft and 4 ft, so it’s not dangerous, just frustrating. You’re better off waiting for the next weather pattern to change things up.
Rusty.
