Alright crew, Rusty here. Let's break this one down.
This is a tough stretch for Blackies. The entire 16-day outlook is a total dud. There’s no rideable surf from the get-go, and it stays that way all the way through. You’re looking at a blank run of more than two weeks.
Starting Friday, July 3rd, it’s flat and ugly. A tiny 2.6ft swell from the SSW, with a long 16 second period, but it’s all cross-onshore and choppy. The combined swell energy is only 316 (weak to moderate), and it’s just a mess. Saturday the 4th and Sunday the 5th are the same story: small, wind-whipped, and poor.
There’s one tiny glimmer on Tuesday, July 7th. The morning shows a 3.3ft SSW swell, with combined energy up to 710 (moderate), but the wave comment labels it marginal at best. A light cross-onshore keeps it from being clean. That’s the best on offer, and it’s still not good.
After that, it’s back to tiny swells and constant cross-onshore or onshore wind. The combined energy drops into the low hundreds by mid-July – we’re talking 172 (weak energy) on Wednesday the 15th. There’s no clean window with a decent wave anywhere.
Water temp is running about 67°F, which is a touch warmer than average for this time of year. But with the break being inconsistent and all the wind blowing the wrong way, there’s nothing to get excited about. Honestly, with the persistent cross-shore breeze and tiny, weak swell, this looks better for a kite surfer than a paddle surfer. Leave the board at home for this one.
