Table - best surf conditions forecast for Corona Del Mar Jetty over the next 16 days.
Alright, grab your board and a coffee, let’s talk about Corona Del Mar Jetty. This is a breakwater setup – fairly consistent, often crowded, and it likes a solid SSW swell. The next couple of weeks start off pretty flat and messy, but there’s a little pulse brewing for the second weekend that could be worth keeping an eye on. Water temps are about average for July, no big anomaly to report.
First up, Thursday the 9th through to Tuesday the 14th – that’s a solid six days of poor surf. The swell is there, 3ft at 16 seconds from the SSW on the 9th, but the wind is onshore and the conditions are just junk. The combined energy is moderate (around 470 on the 9th), but it’s all wasted. Same story Friday to Monday: 3–3ft, 14–15 seconds, but onshore breeze and poor surf quality. The only glimmer is Wednesday morning the 15th – glassy, cross-offshore, 2ft from the west, 10 seconds. That’s surfable but very ordinary, and the combined energy is only 242 – weak. Not worth rushing out for.
Now, here’s the standout. Saturday the 18th – that’s the day. Morning shows 4ft from the south, 16 seconds, with a light cross-shore wind. Combined energy jumps to 1218 – that’s solid moderate energy. The afternoon gets even better: 5ft, same 16 seconds, and the energy hits 2080. It’s a proper pulse. The cross-shore wind keeps it clean enough, though it’s not offshore. Still, this is the best on offer in the whole 16-day window. The swell is too big for beginners (over 5ft), so it’s for intermediate and above. Long period (16s) means it’ll have decent shape but might be a bit straight at the beach – luckily the jetty often helps line it up. Crowds are often, so expect company.
After that, Sunday the 19th has 6ft in the morning but cross-on wind drops the quality – score drops off. Then it fades back to small, messy conditions through the 20th to 22nd. The last few days, the 23rd and 24th, show a little bump: 4–4ft from the south, 15 seconds, but cross-on wind keeps it marginal. The 24th Friday morning has a 2 rating, but it’s not a standout.
So bottom line: first week is a write-off. The real window is Saturday the 18th – that’s your best bet. Keep an eye on the wind, but if it stays light, it could be a fun session. For the rest, you’re waiting for a better pattern.
