Tweede Steen Surf Forecast and Surf Report

Alright, Rusty here with a look at what's coming up for Tweede Steen. We've got a solid run of swell on the cards, but it's not all gonna be pretty. The water's sitting at 57°, which is a bit colder than usual for this time of year, so don't forget the rubber.

The first real action hits on Thursday the 6th of August. Morning session sees a solid 10ft SW groundswell with a 13-second period, packing some serious energy (3314). The wind is a light SE cross-off, setting up clean conditions. This is proper, powerful stuff – way too big for groms, and only for the experienced crew. By Thursday afternoon, the wind picks up to a cross-shore 15 mph from the SSE, and the swell bumps to 12ft. It's still big, but that chop makes it a bit of a handful.

Friday the 7th looks much better. Early morning, it's glassy offshore with a 6 mph ENE breeze and a clean 10ft SW swell, period stretching to 14 seconds (3673). Again, this is big, expert territory, but the conditions will be pristine. The afternoon gets blown out by a 9 mph onshore SW wind, so get out early.

Now, I'm calling it: Saturday morning, the 8th of August, is the standout of the whole forecast. The wind goes totally glassy, dead calm at 3 mph from the WSW. The swell drops to a still-chunky 8ft, also from the SW with a 13-second period (2221). This is the sweet spot – big enough for a proper drop, but clean enough to handle it. The crowd situation at Tweede Steen can be a bit of a lottery, so get down early for the best of it.

Sunday the 9th is a write-off. A strong 25 mph cross-shore from the SSE will have the place looking like a washing machine with 12ft swell. Kite surfers might be having a ball, but for paddle surfing, it's a no-go.

Monday the 10th and Tuesday the 11th see the swell drop to a more manageable 6ft to 7ft range. The wind stays clean on Tuesday morning with a light offshore from the East, making it a decent option for intermediate surfers, with moderate energy levels (1052).

Wednesday the 12th through Friday the 14th bring a new pulse of long-period groundswell. Wednesday morning sees a 6ft WSW swell with an incredibly long 18-second period (2163) and a light offshore ENE wind. That's a lot of energy in the water, but that long period might make it a bit walled at the beach, better suited for a point. Still, clean conditions. Thursday the 13th is another cracker, with a 7ft WSW swell at 16 seconds (2262) and a light offshore from the NE. Friday the 14th morning is smaller, but the afternoon cleans up with a 5ft swell and a 9 mph offshore.

After that, the consistency drops off. From the 15th to the 21st of August, it's a mixed bag of medium-sized swell, but the wind is often cross-shore, onshore, or just too strong. There are a few mornings with light winds and a clean 7ft swell (like the 19th), but the conditions are never quite as pristine as that Saturday morning. The energy values are moderate, and the wind is never quite perfect. The 20th and 21st look particularly messy with strong winds, so honestly, that Saturday the 8th is your best bet by a long shot.
