The Lowdown

Alright folks, Rusty here, and I've got the rundown of what's headin' our way at Strand (Pipe). We've got a bit of a mixed bag ahead, but there are some absolute crackers to get the blood pumping.

Looking at the big picture, we're in for a proper rollercoaster. A few flat days are on the menu right now, so don't bother paddling out just yet. After that, we get a build-up of energy, with a standout day on Tuesday the 21st, then another run of top-notch conditions for the experienced crew on Friday the 24th. The second week has a few more promising windows, but it all gets a bit uncertain further out. There's a proper gap of a few days of poor surf right at the start, from today until Monday the 20th. After that, it's time to keep an eye on the charts.

Now, onto the good stuff. Tuesday the 21st is your first real shout. We've got a solid 6ft swell from the SSW wrapping in, and the energy is pumping at strong. But the best part? The morning is glassy. Zero wind. It's going to be as clean as a whistle. The period is a long 14 seconds, a proper groundswell. That means longer waits between sets, but the waves that come through will have real grunt, and it'll be a dream to paddle out. This one's for experienced surfers though; 6ft with that power is no joke.

Then, hold onto your boards for Friday the 24th. The swell builds even more to a solid 8ft from the SSW, and the energy is absolutely thumping. The morning is, again, completely glassy. This is a serious swell. It's powerful, long-period (14s), and will be breaking with real authority. This is strictly for the experts, the crew who know how to handle themselves when it gets heavy. The south wind swings in and keeps it clean through the afternoon too.

The Saturday the 25th and Sunday the 26th are still excellent, but a step down in size. Saturday morning sees 6ft from the SSW with a clean cross-off breeze. Sunday glassed off again, around the 4ft mark. Great days to get a few waves without the absolute heaviness of Friday.

Moving into the second week, Monday the 27th is glassy again in the morning with a 5ft SW swell. Then on Tuesday the 28th, we get a solid offshore wind from the ESE, cleaning up a 5ft SSW swell. That's a good combo. Wednesday the 29th is looking like another potential standout from a distance, with a 7ft SSW groundswell (14s) and a gentle offshore in the morning. Promising, but keep an eye on the track.

The run up to Monday the 3rd of August brings another big energy pulse. Monday morning has a glassy start with a 6ft SW swell and a very long period of 15 seconds. That's the kind of swell that lines up beautifully at a place like Strand. The afternoon is clean, too.

So, to sum it up: Tuesday the 21st morning is your first standout – a glassy, powerful groundswell. Friday the 24th is the big one for the experts – biggest swell, biggest energy, glassy conditions. After that, you've got plenty of solid sessions on offer, just with slightly smaller waves.

Stay safe out there, and don't get caught inside on that Friday.
