Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, Rusty here again, but in feet and miles per hour. Let’s break down Strand.
There’s a lull before the action. The first real surf isn’t until Monday the 6th of July. Don’t get wet before then.
Monday the 6th of July kicks it off proper. Glassy conditions in the morning – zero wind – with a clean 4ft SW groundswell at 11 seconds. Water temp is 59°, about normal. Combined energy is moderate at 363. Real nice start to the week.
Tuesday the 7th steps up to 4ft-5ft but the wind gets cross-onshore. Not as clean, but the energy jumps to strong (543-841), so there’s power behind it.
Wednesday the 8th is the gem of the first week. Morning glass again, 5ft SW swell with a 13-second period. Strong energy at 948. Clean, long-period lines – a great day out.
Thursday the 9th gets bigger at 7ft SSW, but the wind is cross-offshore, keeping it decent. Very strong energy at 1652. At this size and period (14 seconds), it’s more for experienced surfers.
Friday the 10th – this is the one. 7ft SSW early with a proper offshore wind from the ESE. Very strong energy at 1630. Clean, powerful, and big. Experts only. The swell direction matches perfectly with the optimum SW.
Saturday the 11th and Sunday the 12th settle back to 4ft-5ft with cross-offshore breezes. Still clean, moderate energy (508-705), good for a fun session.
Then it’s a dry spell. From Monday the 13th to Wednesday the 15th, small, weak, and messy. A glassy 2ft on Tuesday afternoon is about it.
Thursday the 16th gives a little hope with 3ft-4ft SW and light winds. Moderate energy (431-612). Surfable.
Friday the 17th is junk. Cross-shore wind and small waves.
Saturday the 18th has a weird afternoon spike – 6ft but from the WNW with a super short 5-second period. That’s windswell, not worth your time.
Sunday the 19th bounces back. Morning glass, 5ft SW swell at 11 seconds, strong energy at 747. Clean and fun.
Monday the 20th is calm and glassy with 4ft SW. Easy paddling.
Tuesday the 21st is the second-week standout. 6ft SSW swell, clean cross-offshore wind, and very strong energy at 1425. The swell direction is spot-on. For experienced surfers, this is another cracker.
Best days: Friday the 10th of July for the biggest, cleanest, most powerful swell. Wednesday the 8th of July for a clean, slightly smaller but possibly more manageable session.
Rusty.
