Alright, Rusty here, looking at what’s coming down the pipe for us.

First up, we’ve got a solid run of swell heading into Pringle Bay. The water temp is sitting at 59°, which is pretty much bang on average for this time of year, nothing out of the ordinary there.

The standout window starts Thursday morning, July 9th. We’re looking at a solid 10ft SSW groundswell with a long 14-second period, pushing a massive 3331 units of energy. The wind is offshore from the ESE, meaning those waves are going to be clean and lined up. This is proper, powerful stuff – definitely not for the groms. This is for the experienced crew only. That afternoon, it stays clean with a fresh offshore, but the energy drops a touch.

Friday the 10th is still pumping with 8ft to 10ft SSW swell, but the wind gets a bit cross-off, so it’s not quite as polished as Thursday. Still a solid option for the seasoned surfer.

Saturday the 11th sees the swell drop to 5ft, and the wind goes cross-off, so it’s cleaner but smaller. The energy is still moderate (1391). Sunday the 12th is smaller again at 4ft, but Sunday afternoon the wind switches to a light offshore, making it glassy clean on the 4ft SSW swell. That’s a decent session for the average joe looking for a fun, clean wave.

Monday the 13th is tiny, but it’s glassy as glass can be. 3ft with no wind. Surfable, but you’ll be working for it.

Now, we hit a bit of a lull. Tuesday the 14th and Wednesday the 15th are mostly onshore, messy, or just poor. Wednesday afternoon does see a 6ft WSW groundswell show up with a very long 16-second period, but the wind is onshore, making it a lumpy mess. That long period swell is a tease with that wind.

Thursday the 16th is a no-go – onshore winds and big, messy 8ft swell.

Friday the 17th brings the offshore winds back, but the swell is on the way down at 5ft. Clean, but not the star of the show.

Saturday the 18th is a write-off with strong onshores, and Sunday the 19th sees a massive 12ft W swell with a 13-second period and 3804 units of energy, but the wind is cross-off, so it’s not perfect. The energy is there, but it’s a bit raw.

The absolute best of the entire forecast, in my book, is Wednesday, July 22nd. The swell is a solid 8ft from the SW, and the wind is light and clean, almost glassy in the morning. By the afternoon, it’s a proper offshore from the SE, cleaning up the 7ft SW groundswell. This is the one to circle. The energy is strong (2008+), and conditions will be excellent for experienced surfers.

We’ve got a window on Monday the 20th that’s worth a paddle too, with 8ft S swell and clean, moderate offshore winds. It’s a strong option, but not as pristine as the 22nd.

The final few days, from the 23rd to the 24th, look like a write-off. A massive 20ft WNW swell shows up, but it’s accompanied by strong onshore winds and rain. That’s a no-go zone. That kind of energy (12325) is just a washing machine with onshore wind.

So, in short: Get after it Thursday the 9th and Friday the 10th for the big, clean groundswell. The real gem is Wednesday the 22nd. The rest is a mix of clean smaller days and a few stormy ones to avoid.

Rusty.
