Table - best surf conditions forecast for Pringle Bay over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on the cards for Pringle Bay over the next couple of weeks.
First off, we’re in for a bit of a slow start. Sunday and Monday this week are pretty quiet, with ankle-to-knee-high swell struggling to get going. The wind plays nice on Monday though – we’re talking glassy conditions, dead calm, which is a treat for the soul. But honestly, the waves are just too small to get excited about.
Tuesday brings a bit of a weird one. A long-period groundswell from the SW pushes in, but the wind is onshore and messy, so it’s a write-off. Wednesday morning is still a bit lumpy, but then Wednesday afternoon... that’s where things get interesting. The swell jumps to 10ft from the SW with a 15-second period, the wind goes glassy, and the water cleans right up. The combined energy is pumping, and this is excellent stuff for experienced surfers. If you’ve got the skills, Wednesday afternoon on the 15th of July is the standout of the first week.
Thursday and Friday are a bit mixed. The swell stays solid, but the wind is onshore or cross-onshore, making things a bit bumpy. Friday morning, though, has a fresh offshore from the SE at 18 mph, cleaning up the 7ft SW swell nicely. That’s a good option for the more experienced crew.
The real gem in the whole run looks like Wednesday the 22nd of July. Tuesday the 21st shows a massive 13ft SSW swell with an 18-second period rolling in. The wind is a clean cross-offshore, and the energy readings are huge. Then Wednesday morning the 22nd, the wind drops to a slight air, glassy conditions, and the swell settles to 12ft from the SSW. That’s a proper session for the experts. The water temperature is sitting around 59°F, which is about average for this time of year, nothing unusual.
After that, the last few days of the outlook get a bit wild. Big swells keep coming, but the wind is mostly onshore or cross-onshore, making it tough. The very end, on Monday the 27th of July, shows a glimmer of hope: glassy conditions with a solid 12ft SW swell, but the wind is light and variable. Could be a good one if the wind holds.
Bottom line: if you’re an experienced surfer, circle Wednesday the 15th and Wednesday the 22nd. The 22nd is the big one. The rest of the time, it’s either too small, too windy, or too big for the average punter.
Rusty.
