The Lowdown

Alright, grab your board and let’s get into it. First off, we got some surf coming, but the start of this stretch is rough. The good stuff takes a few days to line up. You'll be waiting through some average days with messy winds and lumpy conditions, but there is a standout moment coming next week that’ll make it all worth it.

The real window opens up this coming Sunday morning, September 13th. That’s when it gets proper. We got a clean swell from the SW with a solid 6.5ft on offer at Llandudno. The wind will be dead glass, which is exactly what you want. There’s a strong energy behind this push—2473 on the meter—so it’s got some punch. This is the highlight of the week, no doubt. That morning will be a proper session for the intermediates out there. The water is around 58.5°, which is just a touch cooler than normal for the time of year, nothing crazy, but you’ll feel it.

Early next week, the wind turns onshore and cross-shore, making things messy. Monday and Tuesday look weak and lumpy, not worth paddling out for. Then Wednesday the 16th brings another pulse of SW swell with 8.2ft and cross-off winds. Clean conditions, but this one’s got size. That’s bigger, more power—it’ll be handling more on the sets. This one is for experienced surfers only. We’re looking at a strong energy level of 3457, which is a lot of water moving. It’s clean, but that size will test you.

The next few days after that stay in that cleaner zone with cross-off winds and decent SW swell, but nothing with the same size or consistency. It will be fun, but not exceptional. The swell drops off a bit and the winds stay breezy.

Then, here’s the long-range gem. On the 23rd of September, Wednesday, we get another excellent window. Another strong SW swell, 6.9ft in the morning building to 7.9ft by the afternoon. The wind is light or glassy, and the energy is pumping—2502 and 3243 on the meter. It’s got that long-period groundswell feel to it, 14 seconds, so it’ll have some push. This is a standout, but remember, it’s over a week out, so treat it as promising but not locked in. If it holds, this could be the best day of the whole run.

After that, things fade back out, winds go onshore and the swell drops. It looks like a few more days of choppy surf to close out the run, so make sure you get out there on those two key mornings.

Short Range Forecast

Light rain (total 7mm), mostly falling on Sun night. Warm (max 22°C on Sun afternoon, min 14°C on Fri morning). Winds decreasing (fresh winds from the SSE on Fri afternoon, calm by Sun morning).

Days 4-6 Weather Summary

Moderate rain (total 11mm), heaviest on Tue night. Very mild (max 16°C on Mon morning, min 12°C on Wed night). Winds decreasing (strong winds from the N on Mon morning, light winds from the WNW by Tue night).
