Alright, Rusty here. Let's get into it.
We've got some proper groundswell on the way, but you're gonna have to be dialled in for this one. This is a reef break for advanced surfers only, and it's gonna be a run of solid days, though not all of them are clean.
The pick of the bunch is kicking off the run. Friday the 3rd of July is looking like a beauty. We've got a solid 7ft to 8ft swell from the SE, and the wind is playing ball. The morning is cross-off with a light 9 mph breeze from the NW, but the afternoon goes glassy. That's a rare treat. The water is a bit colder than normal at 64°, and the combined energy is strong (2159). This is the standout session for the week.
Saturday the 4th is another top day. Still a good 7ft SE swell in the morning, with a light cross-off from the NW. The afternoon cleans right up with glassy conditions as the swell drops to 6ft. Energy is still moderate-strong (1301 and 1012). This is a close second.
Sunday the 5th sees the swell drop off to 5ft, but the morning is clean with a cross-off. Not the same size, but still a fun wave. The afternoon goes a bit average with a light cross-on.
Then there's a switch-up. Monday the 6th, the swell swings to the SW, coming in at 7ft. The morning is glassy and perfect. The afternoon gets onshore from the E, so make the dawn patrol. This pattern holds through Tuesday the 7th with clean 7ft SW swell both sessions.
Things start to get big and dicey from Wednesday the 8th. The swell jumps to 8ft in the morning and 10ft in the afternoon, with a 14-second period. This is solid groundswell, expert territory. The wind is cross-off, so it'll be clean, but at 10ft, this is for the seasoned crew only.
Thursday the 9th and Friday the 10th get messy. The swell is pumping – up to 12ft on Thursday and staying around 10ft on Friday – but it's onshore wind from the SE and E. The energy is extremely strong (4602 on Thursday afternoon), but the wind is going to wreck the surface. This is a pass.
The run through to Monday the 13th is pretty poor. Onshore winds, dropping swell, and just plain ugly. There's a gap of a few days with nothing worthwhile.
Tuesday the 14th offers a glimmer of hope with a small 4ft E swell and a clean cross-off wind, but it's short period (8 seconds) and weak.
Now, for the long-range promise. Wednesday the 15th kicks off with a strong 25 mph offshore wind, which is clean but hard to paddle into. The afternoon gets wild: a 13ft SW swell with a strong 25 mph cross-off wind. Combined energy is through the roof (5181). This is a massive, clean swell, but that wind will make it a battle.
The real long-range standout is Thursday the 16th of July. The morning is tiny, but the afternoon... the afternoon is a monster. An 18ft SW swell with a 12-second period, light cross-shore wind, and an energy reading of 8017. This is a huge, very solid groundswell. It's an expert-only, massive session if you can handle it.
The final days, Friday the 17th and Saturday the 18th, hold clean, solid 12ft to 13ft SW swells with light winds and even glassy moments. Big, powerful, and good for those who know what they're doing.
No beginners should even look at this place. For the experts, the absolute standouts are the Friday the 3rd and Saturday the 4th for the best combination of size and glassy wind, and the Thursday the 16th afternoon for a truly memorable, giant session.
Rusty.
