Table - best surf conditions forecast for Tercera Ponte over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on the cards for Tercera Ponte over the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, we’ve got a real standout early in the period. Saturday morning, the 11th of July, is looking like the pick of the bunch. We’ve got a clean 4ft swell rolling in from the southeast with a solid 13-second period – that’s proper long-period groundswell, meaning good shape and plenty of energy in the water (combined energy of 521). The wind is glassy, coming light from the north at just 3 mph. It doesn’t get much cleaner than that. The water temp is about average for this time of year. This is a beginner-friendly spot, and with conditions this good, it’ll be a dream session. But be warned, crowds are often here, so get in early.
That Saturday afternoon the wind swings onshore and the quality drops right off. Sunday the 12th still has some fun 3ft swell from the southeast with a 12-second period, and a lighter cross-offshore wind in the morning makes for clean waves, but it’s not the same magic as Saturday morning.
From Monday the 13th onwards, things get messy. Strong onshore winds from the south and southeast blow in with a vengeance. We see a pulse of short-period, wind-affected swell (6ft at 7 seconds) on Wednesday the 15th, but with a 22 mph southeasterly blowing straight onshore, it’s a complete washout. The combined energy might be moderate (494), but the quality is zero.
A bigger swell arrives towards the end of the second week – Thursday the 17th of July through to Saturday the 19th sees 6ft to 4ft swell from the south-southeast and southeast. The wave energy is strong, hitting 1286 on the Saturday morning of the 18th. However, the wind remains onshore and strong (12-19 mph). This is serious, raw swell, but with that wind, it’s going to be a bumpy, blown-out mess – more of a kite-surfing scenario than a paddle session, especially given it’s a beach setup.
There is a brief glimmer right at the end of the forecast. On Saturday morning, the 25th of July, the wind drops to glassy again. A small 4ft southeast swell with a short 7-second period rolls in. It’s not the quality of the first Saturday, but glassy conditions can make a fun, gentle morning for the beginners. The combined energy is weak (157), so don’t expect much push.
Overall, if you want the best, your window is this Saturday morning. After that, we have a long, poor run of onshore wind that lasts over a week. The late pulse on the 25th offers some hope, but it’s a long way off and less certain.
Rusty.
