Table - best surf conditions forecast for Barra Vento over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s get into it.
We’ve got a 16-day window, and honestly, it’s a bit of a slow burn to start. Don’t expect much for the first few days. The real action starts to build from Saturday the 11th, with a couple of standout windows that are worth circling on the calendar. There’s a gap of poor conditions from Thursday the 9th right through Friday the 10th, so you can give those days a miss.
For the first real taste of something good, we’re looking at Barra Vento on Saturday morning, July 11th. The wind is swinging offshore from the north at 6 mph, keeping things clean. The swell is coming in from the SE at 4 ft with a period of 13 seconds – that’s a nice groundswell, with some proper energy behind it. The combined energy is moderate (525). The crowd factor is rare, which is a bonus. However, that longer period means the sets might be a bit more spaced out, but the shape should be good. This is your best bet for the first week.
After that, Sunday morning the 12th looks decent too. Offshore winds again from the north at 3 mph, with a 3 ft SE swell, period of 12 seconds, and clean conditions. The water temp is about average for the time of year, so nothing wild there.
The second week kicks off with a promising run. Monday morning, July 20th, the wind is light and cross-off from the ENE at 6 mph, making for clean conditions. The swell is a solid 4 ft from the SE, with a 12-second period. The combined energy here jumps to strong (673). This is a standout for the whole period.
Then Tuesday morning, July 21st, is another cracker. Light cross-off wind from the ENE at 6 mph, keeping it clean. The swell is 4 ft from the E, but the period is a shorter 8 seconds, so it’s more of a windswell. Still, the energy is strong (612), and the conditions are right.
If you’re an experienced surfer, keep an eye on Friday morning, July 24th. The wind is absolutely glassy, calm at 0 mph, and the swell is pushing 6 ft from the ESE at 8 seconds. That’s a solid size, getting into expert territory, but with glassy conditions, it could be a real session. The energy is strong (491).
For beginners, the swell does get over 5 ft on the 22nd and 24th, so those days are for more experienced hands. The shorter period swells in the second week (8 seconds) will mean less powerful, more crumbly waves, which might be okay for some, but not as clean as groundswell.
Keep an eye on that Saturday morning, July 11th, and Monday morning, July 20th – those are the pick of the bunch.
Rusty.
