Table - best surf conditions forecast for Santinho over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here with a look at what Santinho has in store for us over the next couple of weeks. Let's get straight into it.
The pattern starts off quiet, then builds into a promising run through the weekend and early next week. The standout days are Saturday the 11th and Sunday the 12th, with very good conditions on offer. The water temperature is about average for the time of year.
Friday morning the 10th kicks things off with a small, clean 2ft groundswell from the ESE, with a long 14-second period and moderate wave energy (299). A light cross-offshore breeze will have it looking tidy. Friday afternoon sees the swell pick up to 3ft, but the wind swings cross-shore and it gets a bit messier.
Saturday the 11th is where it gets good. Morning surf sees the swell building to 5ft from the ESE, with a solid 13-second period and strong energy (709). The wind is light cross-offshore, so those waves will be clean and well-shaped. This is excellent for the intermediate surfer. It stays clean through the afternoon with 3ft waves and the same long-period swell.
Sunday the 12th morning is the absolute peak of the first week. You’re looking at 5ft of ESE groundswell, 12-second period, with very strong energy (856). The wind is light cross-off, making for clean, firing waves. This is the best call of the weekend. Afternoon gets messy though, with a strong cross-onshore wind ruining it.
Monday the 13th sees a shift to a shorter-period, 8-second S swell. The morning has 6ft waves but a moderate cross-shore wind and a choppy surface – it’s marginal. The afternoon stays poor.
Tuesday the 14th morning is a beauty – clean 4ft from the SSE with a light offshore wind. Nice and clean. It gets a bit jumbled in the afternoon as the wind picks up.
The rest of that week sees smaller, cleaner waves in the 3ft to 4ft range, but the period drops and the energy is weak to moderate. Surfable, but nothing special.
Looking further out, there’s a solid pulse arriving on Friday the 24th. Friday morning is looking like a standout for the long-range. You’ve got clean 6ft of SSE groundswell with a long 11-second period and very strong energy (893). Light offshore breeze will have it glassy. Friday afternoon, the swell jumps to 8ft from the SSE, but that’s too big for Santinho for most. Saturday the 25th morning is a big 8ft S swell – again, too big for this spot, strictly for the experts.
So, the pick of the forecast is definitely Sunday the 12th morning at Santinho, with Saturday the 11th a close second. Long-range, keep an eye on Friday the 24th morning, but remember it’s a promise, not a guarantee.
Rusty.
