Table - best surf conditions forecast for Ribanceira over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's coming our way for Ribanceira over the next couple of weeks.
Right now, things are pretty flat and messy. The first real action we see kicks off this Saturday, July 11th, but it's a bit of a slow start. The early session is a write-off with onshore wind and poor conditions, but the afternoon goes glassy. We're looking at a small 3ft swell from the ESE with a 13-second period, and the energy is moderate (507). It's tiny, but that glassy surface will make it a fun little session for a log.
The standout window really opens up on Sunday, July 12th, and stretches through Tuesday, July 14th. Sunday morning looks fantastic: clean, offshore winds from the WSW at 6 mph, with a solid 4ft ESE groundswell. The combined energy is strong (1123), and with that offshore breeze, the sandbars at Ribanceira should be peeling off nicely. Sunday afternoon gets a bit of a bump, jumping to 6ft from the S, but the period drops to 9 seconds making it a bit more jumbled. Still, with a moderate offshore wind from the SSW, it’ll be clean and plenty fun. Monday the 13th is the real gem—7ft of S swell, short period at 8 seconds, but with a gentle offshore breeze from the SW, it's going to be very good. That’s a powerful, punchy wave with very strong energy (1199) on offer. Tuesday morning the 14th is glassy again with a 7ft SE swell. That's getting a bit hefty for beginners, leaning into intermediate/expert territory, but the clean conditions will be a treat.
After Tuesday, the wind turns ugly. From Wednesday the 15th through the following weekend, we get hammered by strong onshore and cross-onshore winds from the north. Swell sticks around, but it’s going to be choppy and blown out. Not worth paddling out unless you're after a bumpy session.
We hit a real dead zone from late in the week of the 18th onward. The swell drops to nothing, with combined energy falling below 100 (weak). There’s barely any surf for several days straight. The wind is still poor, mostly cross-onshore. The only tiny glimmer is on the 22nd, but it's only 3ft of short-period swell.
Hang in there, because the second week looks promising again. Starting Thursday, July 23rd, a new S swell arrives. The morning is glassy with a clean 7ft swell, though it's short period (8 seconds). By Friday, July 24th, it improves dramatically. We’re looking at a 7ft S groundswell with a very long 12-second period, combined with glassy and clean conditions. That's top-tier stuff at Ribanceira. The combined energy is very strong (1269-1272). This one is best for more experienced surfers as it's over 7ft, but the long period will bring excellent shape and power. Saturday the 25th still has quality leftovers with a 6ft SSE swell, also a long 12-second period, and glassy conditions in the morning.
So, the clear call to action is this Sunday and Monday, July 12th and 13th. That’s your best bet for the near term. For those planning ahead, that Friday the 24th looks like a potential bomb, just keep in mind it's a week and a half away so things could shift.
Until next time, this is Rusty signing off.
