Table - best surf conditions forecast for Praia de Pipa over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let's talk about what's on the menu for Praia de Pipa over the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, it's a tough stretch ahead. The ocean's got a bit of energy moving through, but the wind just won't play ball. We're looking at a solid 16-day run with no standout days, so temper those expectations. The water temp is sitting at 81°, which is pretty much dead on average for this time of year, so no need for a thick wetsuit.
We kick off on Sunday morning, 12 July, with some clouds and a moderate cross-shore breeze out of the southeast at 12 mph. The swell is coming from the ESE at 5ft, but with a short period of just 6 seconds and a combined energy of 315 (moderate energy), it's messy. The surf quality is poor, and that theme sticks around. The wind stays stubbornly cross or cross-onshore out of the east and southeast for days, with speeds around 9 to 15 mph, just chopping everything up.
As we move through the week and into the next, the swell hangs in there, mostly between 3ft and 5ft, but the period stays short at 6 to 8 seconds. By Saturday, 18 July, the energy picks up to around 190 (moderate energy), but the risk of thunderstorms and that persistent 12-15 mph cross-shore wind keeps the surface ugly. Even on Wednesday, 22 July, when the wind turns slightly cross-offshore from the SSE, it's blowing at 15-18 mph, which is just too much for a clean ride, despite the forecast calling it "clean." The swell is 4ft to 5ft from the ESE, but with that wind, it's only going to be a battle.
The pattern continues right through to Monday, 27 July. The swell energy peaks around 302 (moderate energy) on Saturday, 25 July, but it's accompanied by a 15 mph cross-shore wind out of the southeast and a short 8-second period. It's just never going to come together. The waves will be there, but the quality is poor across the board. For a beginner-friendly spot that's exposed to the swell and very consistent, it's a real shame the wind is so against us. Crowds are sometimes an issue here, but with conditions like this, it might be quieter than usual.
The reality is there's no day in this 16-day window where I can point you to a session. The best I can say is that it won't stay this way forever, but for now, leave the board in the car.
Rusty.
