The Lowdown
Alright, let's cut to it. It's going to be a tough stretch of surf. The first few days are looking totally flat and messy, not worth the drive. We're talking about a whole lot of knee-high junk with weak, short-period energy. There's just no push out there.
The morning of Friday the 28th is the first time you'll want to even think about paddling out. We should see some chest-high waves with a clean cross-offshore wind. It's the first real sign of life. But the one to circle on your calendar is the morning of Saturday the 29th. We’ve got clean conditions with a gentle offshore breeze and some fun, chest-high surf. The swell direction is from the southeast and it’s a short period, but the clean conditions will make it feel better than the numbers suggest.
Later in the week, we're tracking a bigger swell for Monday the 31st. The afternoon could see some head-high plus surf with a lot more energy behind it. The wind is a bit cross-shore, so it might be a little lumpy, but it's the biggest swell of the whole period. That trend should carry into Tuesday the 1st of September with similar size and some glassy conditions in the afternoon if the wind plays nice.
The water temp is about normal for the season. So, honestly, we're looking at two or three decent windows here. The 28th and 29th are your best bets for clean, fun waves. The 31st and 1st are the biggest but might be a little messier. Everything else, you might as well stay home and check the surf cams.
Rusty out.
