Table - best surf conditions forecast for Linkys over the next 16 days.
G’day, it’s Rusty. Let’s have a look at what’s coming up for Linkys.
To be honest, it’s a pretty bleak stretch ahead. The first week is almost a write-off, with barely anything worth paddling out for. The water temp is sitting around 66°, which is about normal for this time of year, so no surprises there.
The best chance of anything decent comes right at the end of the outlook, on Wednesday morning, 22 July. That’s the only time the swell bumps up to 6 ft from the ESE, with a combined energy of 356 (moderate wave energy). But that’s a big swell for a reef and point break that’s rated advanced, and with a period of only 8 seconds, it’ll be a bit lumpy and disorganised. The wind is cross-off from the SSW, so it’ll be clean, but it’s still a marginal call. The same afternoon drops to 5 ft with 267 energy, still clean but nothing special.
Before that, from Thursday 9 July through to Tuesday 22 July, it’s all small, weak waves. The first few days have some 3 ft swell, but the wind is either onshore or cross-off, and the energy is low (105–107). Friday morning, 10 July, has a glassy wind and 2 ft, but it’s only 2 ft with 54 energy – small and weak. Saturday and Sunday are even worse, with 1.0 ft and onshore winds. The whole first week is a dud.
There’s a gap of several days from about 10 July through to 21 July where there’s really no recommendation at all. The swell just sits at 1.0 ft to 2 ft, and the wind is often onshore or cross. Nothing to get excited about.
Even the second week, from 21 July onwards, doesn’t offer much. The 21st has a 5 ft pulse in the afternoon, but it’s onshore from the E with 210 energy – that’s more of a messy, blown-out mess than a surf. The 22nd morning is the only real standout, but it’s still a gamble. After that, it drops back to 3 ft for the rest of the week. No clean, long-period groundswell to speak of.
All in all, this is a tough run for Linkys. It’s inconsistent here, and this forecast shows that. If you’re desperate, the 22 July morning is your best shot, but keep your expectations low. Otherwise, it’s a waiting game.
Rusty.
