The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s break down what’s cooking at Linkys for the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, it’s a tough stretch to start. From July 14th all the way through July 22nd, there’s hardly a ripple. The swell is tiny, never more than about 1 ft, and while there are some moments of glassy or clean offshore wind, there’s just no wave energy to work with. The combined energy is barely a whisper (14 or less most days). It’s a long, flat spell.
The first real pulse shows up on Monday afternoon, July 27th. That’s when we finally see a jump, with a 6 ft swell from the SSE. The combined energy hits 218 (moderate wave energy), which is the most we’ve seen all forecast. The wind is a clean cross-offshore breeze, which is a big plus. But it’s a short period swell at 6 seconds, so expect it to be a bit soft and lumpy, and at 6 ft, it’s getting into the zone that’s better for experienced surfers. It’s not a full-blown standout, but it’s the best we’ve got.
After that, the end of the month gets a little better. On Wednesday, July 29th, there’s a chance at some clean waves. The morning offers a 3 ft swell from the SE with a light cross-offshore breeze, and the afternoon goes glassy with a 2 ft SE swell. The combined energy is still weak (87 and 64), but the forecast calls it "surfable waves." For a spot that’s inconsistent and often crowded, this is the sweet spot. It’s small, but it’s clean and manageable for all levels.
So, bottom line: the first week and a half is a total bust. The best bet is to wait for that Monday the 27th if you’re an advanced surfer looking for some push, or target the 29th for a smaller, cleaner session when the crowds are likely. Keep an eye on it, because forecasts can change, but right now, patience is the name of the game.
Rusty.
