The Lowdown
G’day, Rusty here. Look, I’ll be straight with you – the next 16 days at Linkys are a real struggle. We’re looking at a long, dry spell with barely a wave worth paddling for. The first recommendation doesn’t pop up until Thursday, July 23rd, and even then it’s nothing to write home about. Before that, we’ve got a solid stretch of flat, poor conditions starting from Friday, July 17th, right through to Wednesday, July 22nd. The water temp is sitting at a touch warmer than normal, about 67°F at the start, but that’s about the only highlight.
Thursday, July 23rd, is where we finally see a pulse. The morning brings a bit of a lift with a 3ft swell from the SE, period around 8 seconds, and light offshore wind from the W. The combined energy ticks up to 129 (moderate), and the wind is offshore, so it’ll be clean. But it’s still a weak, short-period swell, and the break is an advanced, inconsistent reef and point. For a spot that rarely breaks, this is a small window. The afternoon swings back to a cross-shore, and the quality drops right off again.
Friday, July 25th, and Saturday, July 26th, offer small, ordinary waves, but nothing to get excited about. The swell stays around 3ft to 3ft from the SE, with periods of 7 to 8 seconds. The wind is glassy or cross-off in the mornings, but it’s tiny. The water is still feeling a touch warmer than normal, but it’s not enough to save the surf.
The rest of the outlook from July 27th onward is a dud. The swell drops to 0.3ft to 2ft, and the wind is mostly cross or onshore. No standouts, no reason to chase. The few "surfable" moments are just ordinary. Honestly, if you’re after a paddle, you’re better off waiting for a better forecast. This spot is inconsistent, and this run proves it. Keep an eye on the charts, but for now, chances are slim.
Rusty.
