The Lowdown
G’day, Rusty here. Look, I’ve gotta be straight with you – this 16-day window for Le Port is a tough one. The whole forecast is marked as poor surf conditions, and honestly, I wouldn’t paddle out for any of it. There’s not a single standout session in the bunch. The good news is, the swell energy does pick up a bit in the second week, but the wind and quality just aren’t cooperating.
Le Port is a rare-breaks reef, and when it’s on, it can be a gem. But over the next couple of weeks, it’s mostly small, weak, and messy. The water temperature is sitting at 76°F with a massive anomaly of 5°F – that’s much warmer than usual for this time of year, which is very unusual.
Let’s run through it. Friday the 7th starts with glassy conditions and a tiny 2ft NW swell, but the period is a short 7 seconds, and the combined energy is a weak 58. It’s just not doing anything. The rest of the first week stays small, mostly under 2ft, with periods bouncing between 5 and 10 seconds. The winds are often onshore or cross-onshore, and the energy rarely breaks triple digits. There’s a stretch from Friday the 7th through to Thursday the 14th where nothing is worth a look – over a week of flat, poor conditions.
The second week sees a slight lift. Friday the 14th shows a 2ft WNW swell with a period of 11 seconds and energy of 115 – still small, but the longer period gives it a bit of shape. Winds are onshore, though, so it’ll be bumpy. By Monday the 17th, the swell bumps up to 4ft from the NW, energy hits 143, but the period drops to 7-8 seconds with a cross-onshore breeze. It’s a mess. The 22nd is the biggest day of the outlook – a 5ft to 5ft NW swell, periods of 10-11 seconds, and strong energy of 505-517. But the wind is a moderate cross-onshore at 12-16 mph, making it choppy and ugly. It’s too big for beginners, but the wind ruins it for everyone else. With the reef and the poor quality, this setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing.
So, there you have it. No standouts. A blank run of over a week, then some energy that never gets clean. Keep your board in the car and check back – forecasts can change.
