The Lowdown
Alright, let’s get into it. Look, I’ll be straight with you—this is a tough stretch for Lafitenia. For the next couple of weeks, we’re mostly looking at small, weak leftovers and iffy wind. It’s one of those forecasts where you gotta pick your moments and keep expectations in check.
The water’s sitting at a balmy 77°, which is much warmer than usual for this time of year—kinda nice, actually.
We start off with a real flat spell. Sunday the 19th and into the beginning of the week is a write-off. Tiny 1ft to 3ft swell from the NNW, mostly onshore or cross-onshore breeze, and the combined energy is low, like 27 to 109 (moderate). The conditions are poor across the board. Not worth paddling out.
There’s a slight flicker on Monday morning the 20th with a glassy 3ft wave from the NNW, but the period is a short 6 seconds and the energy is still weak at 67. It’s surfable, but very ordinary.
Honestly, you’re waiting all the way until Tuesday the 28th for anything halfway decent. That morning brings glassy conditions again with 3ft from the NW, 9-second period, and the energy bumps up to 138 (moderate). It’s a clean little window but still nothing to write home about.
Now, the real standout is the morning of Wednesday the 29th of July. That’s the best on offer. We’ve got a clean 4ft swell from the NW with an 11-second period, giving it some proper shape. The combined energy is a solid 301 (moderate to strong), and it’s glassy – dead calm. That is the session to target if you’re keen. The break will be clean, and with that longer period, the waves will have more push.
Thursday the 30th morning is worth a look too – 4ft from the NW at 11 seconds, energy at 403 (moderate to strong), but the wind is a light cross-onshore so it won’t be as pristine as Wednesday.
After that, it fades out again. Friday the 31st and into August we’re back to small, weak swell with onshore or cross-onshore winds. There’s a brief mention of a clean, cross-offshore breeze on Sunday the 2nd of August morning, but with only 2ft from the NW and an energy of 115, it’s just a small, average wave.
Bottom line: the only true standout in this 16-day window is the morning of July 29. Get on it if you can. Everything else is chasing scraps.
