Table - best surf conditions forecast for Cala De Meron over the next 16 days.
The Lowdown
Alright folks, let’s break down what we’ve got at Cala De Meron. It’s a slow starter, that’s for sure. There’s nothing decent on the table for the first few days, and we have a long gap of flat or poor conditions before anything worth paddling for shows up.
The first bit of real size comes on Thursday the 20th, but it’s not pretty. Thursday morning shows a 3ft NW swell with 9 second period, but the wind is onshore from the north and it’s raining – no good there. The combined energy is at 206, so it's got a little bit of power, but the conditions are off. Thursday afternoon bumps up to 4ft from the NW, still raining, but the wind goes light and cross-onshore – marginal at best, only a 1 out of 10.
Now, Friday the 21st morning is the one to circle. We get clean conditions with a light cross-offshore breeze from the WSW, and that 4ft NW swell holds with a 10 second period. The combined energy jumps to 457 (moderate wave energy), so there’s some grunt. That longer period (10 seconds) will bring better-shaped waves and longer lulls, which helps with the paddle out. For a beginner spot like this, 4ft is a fun size – not too pushy. But keep an eye out, because crowds can roll through here sometimes. This is the best session in the whole outlook.
Friday afternoon goes south with a cross-on wind, and then it’s back to a long stretch of small, weak, crummy conditions through the weekend and into the next week. Saturday the 22nd through to Wednesday the 27th is mostly a write-off – small swells, onshore winds, or flat spells.
Then, here’s the surprise: Thursday the 27th morning. A solid 7ft NW swell hits with a 9 second period and a moderate cross-offshore breeze from the WSW. The combined energy is 795 (strong wave energy). That’s proper size. For beginners, 7ft is too big – this one’s for the crew with some experience. The NW direction lines up well with the optimum (NNW), so the break should hold up. The short period means the waves might be a bit lumpy, but that clean offshore wind makes it the other standout in this forecast – a morning for confident surfers only.
After that, Friday the 28th drops to 5-6ft, but winds turn messy. Saturday the 29th has a glassy 3ft in the morning, but the energy is weak. The rest of the run, from Sunday the 30th through to the start of September, is small, low-energy stuff – mostly 1-3ft with occasional glassy windows but not enough wave power to get excited about.
Bottom line: your best call is Friday morning the 21st for clean, mellow fun. If you want power and size and you’ve got the skills, Thursday morning the 27th is the other one. The rest is a whole lot of sitting on the beach.
