Howdy, Rusty here, and I’m being straight with you – the next couple weeks at Cala De Meron are mostly a bust. This is a beginner-friendly, fairly consistent break, but the swell just ain’t showing up for a long while.
We start with nothing. From Saturday July 4th, it’s all tiny – waves around 2ft to 2ft, cross winds, poor. Sunday the 5th has a brief jump to 5ft on Sunday afternoon, but the period is only 5 seconds, cross-shore wind, making it a bumpy mess. Energy is moderate (149) but poorly aimed, and it’s labeled poor.
Monday the 6th of July morning goes glassy – offshore wind from NNE at 3 mph, waves only 3ft with a 5-second period. It says “surfable but very ordinary,” energy weak at 55. It’s clean but tiny. Monday arvo the wind turns cross-on again. Tuesday through Saturday the 11th: all junk, heights mostly 1ft to 1ft, cross-on wind.
Then we get a little window. Sunday the 12th of July morning shows a 4ft N swell with glassy conditions – wind from NW at 3 mph. Combined energy hits 228 (moderate), and it says “expect good surf conditions.” Period is 8 seconds, so short-period windswell, but with glass it could produce some fun little peelers for beginners and logs. Swell direction is N, close to the optimum NNW, so it’s lining up. Crowds are possible, so you might see a few mates. That's your best shot.
After that, Monday the 13th onward goes back to weak, cross-shore dribble – heights 1ft to 4ft, mostly poor or marginal. Wednesday the 15th morning has another glassy moment with 3ft NNE swell, but energy is only 97 – weak. The rest is flat. So if you want the only real standout, it’s Sunday morning, July 12th. Otherwise, it’s a long dry spell. Forecasts can change, but for now, patience is the name of the game. Rusty out.
