Alright, this is Rusty. Gotta be straight with you—looking at the next 16 days for Cala De Meron, it’s a quiet stretch. The swell is small, the energy is weak, and the wind is mostly just a little off. Not much to get the heart pumping.
The first bit of surf shows up Tuesday, July 7th, but it’s hardly worth a mention. Tuesday morning you’ve got a 1ft NW swell with a period of 8 seconds and combined energy of just 23. Wind is a light cross-onshore from the NW at 6 mph, so the surface is rippled. It’s poor. Tuesday afternoon the swell bumps to 2ft, but the period drops to a bad 4 seconds—just wind chop. Energy hits 32, still weak. Wednesday the 8th is more of the same: 1ft in the morning, 1ft in the afternoon, with onshore winds. Not worth it.
Thursday the 9th, a little hope. Morning is 2ft NW swell, 10-second period, energy at 56. Afternoon cleans up—wind goes light offshore from the NNW at 3 mph, and the swell is 2ft with a 9-second period. That’s the cleanest wind we’ll see for a while, and the 60 combined energy is moderate. It’s tiny, but if you’re a beginner, that’s a fun little window. Friday the 10th stays small with offshore winds, swell 2ft, energy 73 to 76. Saturday the 11th morning is glassy—cross-shore wind from the E at 3 mph, and a 2ft swell with an 11-second period. Energy is 95, getting closer to moderate, but still tiny. Clean, though.
Sunday the 12th afternoon is the only real standout in the whole run. The swell picks up to 3ft from the N, period 8 seconds, and combined energy hits 115—that’s the first time we see moderate energy. The wind is a light cross-onshore, so not perfect, but it’s the biggest we get. For a beginner break, 3ft is about as fun as it gets. That’s your best bet.
From Monday the 13th onward, it fades back to small stuff. Energy drops into the 50s and 60s, swell heights around 2ft to 2ft. Wind is mostly cross-onshore or onshore. Not much happening.
Then, around Sunday the 19th of July, there’s a tiny spark. Sunday morning is glassy—calm wind from the NNW at 3 mph, and a 1ft NW swell with a very long period of 13 seconds. Energy is 43, weak, but that long period means the waves that show will be clean and well-shaped on the right bank. Sunday afternoon brings a rain shower, swell 1ft with a 12-second period, energy 73. Still tiny, but clean. For a beginner, that glassy morning could be special.
After that, the last few days of July are flat or near flat. Swell drops to 0.6ft, energy in the teens. Not surfable.
To sum it up: no big swell here. The standout is Sunday the 12th of July afternoon with the 3ft N swell and moderate energy. The cleanest glassy windows are Thursday the 9th afternoon and Sunday the 19th morning, but the swell is tiny. For a beginner, those glassy days with small waves might actually be the most fun.
Stay patient. This area can turn, but right now it’s a long flat spell with a couple of tiny windows.
Rusty.
