The Lowdown

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's take a look at what's happening for the Figari area. I gotta be straight with you – the next week and a half is a bit of a flat spell. We're looking at tiny, weak waves, if any at all, right through until the 10th of August. The water's warm, coming in at 81°F, which is much warmer than usual for this time of year, so you won't need a thick suit, but you'll need patience.

We start with nothing but a faint ripple on the 30th of July – combined energy at a measly 0. Then through the 31st and into the weekend, we're talking about waves that are a mere 0.7ft to 1ft. The wind is mostly offshore, which is a tease, but there's just no swell to speak of. We get a few days of glassy conditions in the mornings, like the 3rd, 4th, and 5th of August, but the combined energy is still in single digits. It's a board-in-the-car kind of week, not a paddle-out kind of week.

The 10th of August shows a tiny pulse, with a 2ft swell from the west and a combined energy of 13, but it's still too small to get excited about. Then things start to look a bit more promising on the 11th of August. We see a 4ft to 4ft swell from the WNW, with combined energy jumping into the triple digits – 128 to 133. The wind is onshore though, which is not ideal, and the period is a short 7 seconds, so it won't be the cleanest. The 12th of August is a bit of a mixed bag, with a 4ft swell in the morning and a 5ft swell in the afternoon, but the wind picks up, and the poor surf quality comments keep the score at a 1 out of 10.

The closest we get to something rideable is on the 13th of August. The swell builds to 7ft in the morning and 8ft in the afternoon from the WNW, with a combined energy of 408 and 636 respectively. That's decent energy, but the wind is a moderate onshore breeze from the WSW, and the swell period is only 7 to 8 seconds. This is getting into the size range that's more for experienced surfers, and with the onshore wind, it's going to be a bumpy, messy affair. After that, it drops back down to 5ft and 4ft on the 14th, with the same onshore wind.

Honestly, for the whole 16-day window, there's no standout day. The closest we get to a surf is the 13th, but with the poor wind conditions, it's a hard pass. This area is going through a classic summer flat spell, and the forecasts will need to change before we see any proper waves. Hang in there, but don't hold your breath.

Rusty.
