Table - best surf conditions forecast for Le Ruppione over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s get real about the outlook for Le Ruppione. I’ve looked at the charts, and honestly, for the next 16 days, it’s a tough sit. The forecast is a long, dry spell with barely a whisper of real swell coming through.
We’re looking at a gap of nearly a week and a half with no decent surf. The first half of the window is almost completely flat, with only tiny, weak pulses showing up. There’s a bit of a kick around Saturday the 18th and Sunday the 19th, but even then, it’s not gonna set the world on fire.
The best chance to get wet is Saturday morning, July 18th and Sunday morning, July 19th. That’s when we see a little pulse of WNW swell push through, around 3ft to 3ft, with a period of 6 seconds. The combined energy is weak (67 to 83), so it’s not gonna have much push. The saving grace is the wind: both mornings look glassy with a slight air, so the surface should be clean. That’s the only real highlight.
For a more detailed look:
The water’s running much warmer than normal for this time of year, about 77°, which is a nice surprise.
Le Ruppione is an exposed beach and reef setup, but it’s inconsistent and rarely breaks. It’s an advanced spot, so when it does come alive, it’s for the experienced crew. The optimum swell direction is from the SW, but the main pulses we get are from the WNW, which isn’t a perfect match.
For the first week, from July 7th through to the 17th, it’s a write-off. We’re talking tiny, short-period swell (4 to 6 seconds) with cross-onshore winds or just flat calm. The scores are all zero for a reason. You’ll be staring at a lake.
Saturday the 18th morning: Glassy, 3ft from the WNW, 6-second period. The waves will be there, but very ordinary. The crowd factor is "sometimes," so you might see a few others out.
Sunday the 19th morning: Best of the bunch. Glassy again, with a slightly bigger 3ft from the W, still on a 6-second period. Again, the conditions will be clean, but the quality is just "surfable." The afternoon on both days gets blown out by the onshore wind.
After the 19th, it drops right back off to tiny, weak pulses and flat spells. The wind is mostly glassy or light offshore in the mornings, but there’s just no swell to work with.
Honestly, this is a lean period. If you’re desperate for a paddle, the 18th and 19th mornings are your only shot, but don’t expect anything epic. The setup looks more interesting for a kite session than a pure paddle session given the lack of real wave power.
Rusty.
