Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, Rusty here. Let's break down what's coming for La Sauzaie.
Gotta be honest, this forecast is a tough one to read. We're looking at a 16-day window, but there's a big gap of nothing at the start. The first chance you see is Friday morning, July 3rd, but it's nothing to write home about. Swell is from the WNW at about 3ft with a 10-second period, and a light north cross-offshore breeze. The water is a balmy 71°, which is more than 3° warmer than normal for this time of year – that's really unusual. The wave energy is weak (191).
After that little blip, the swell drops and stays tiny for the first week. We get some clean mornings on Saturday the 4th and Sunday the 5th with a light offshore wind, but the swell shrinks to 2ft or less. The energy numbers drop into double digits. Not much to work with.
From Monday the 6th all the way through to Monday the 13th, it is a dead zone. Almost no swell and wind coming from every direction. It's a classic blank run for this area, nothing out of the ordinary for a quiet spell. Don't bother.
Now, for the one window you need to circle on the calendar. It's a long way out, so keep an eye on it, but Tuesday the 14th of July is the day. The morning shows a 3ft west swell, but the afternoon is the real deal. We get a 4ft west swell with an 11-second period – that's a proper groundswell. The wave energy hits a moderate 286. The wind will be cross-shore from the WNW, so it won't be glassy, but it's the biggest and most powerful swell of the whole forecast. That's your standout session. With that longer period, the waves will have better shape and more push, and this reef break should handle it well. It's for intermediate and up. And remember, crowds here are often a thing, so when the swell finally shows, so will everyone else.
After that spike, the swell fades back to small, ordinary conditions for the rest of the week.
So, save your energy. It's a long wait for one solid afternoon on July 14th. That's your best bet.
Rusty.
