Table - best surf conditions forecast for La Sauzaie over the next 16 days.
G'day, I'm Rusty. Let's talk about the surf outlook for La Sauzaie.
To be honest, mate, it's a pretty grim stretch ahead. For the next twelve days, the conditions are just ordinary – small, weak, and mostly blown out. There's a real run of poor surf that stretches from now all the way through to the 19th of July. You'll be looking at tiny waves, with a lot of onshore or cross-shore wind messing things up. The water here is a touch warmer than usual for this time of year, sitting at 68°.
The first real glimmer of hope doesn't show up until the morning of Sunday, the 20th of July. We've got a bit of moderate energy (152) in the water with a 4ft swell from the west, and the wind is blowing offshore from the ENE. That'll clean things up for a bit, but the swell period is a short 6 seconds, so it won't have much push. It's surfable, but very ordinary.
The absolute standout, and the only one worth getting excited about, is the morning of Tuesday, the 21st of July. The wind goes glassy – dead calm – and that's a major positive. There'll be a clean 3ft swell from the west, with a little more energy (82) than the days before. It's small, but glassy waves at La Sauzaie are a treat. The crowds here can be often, so expect some company.
After that, the wind turns onshore again and the surf gets messy. By Wednesday the 22nd of July, the swell picks up a bit to 5ft, but it's fat and choppy. On the 24th of July, we see a bigger bump in the swell – up to 6ft from the west with very strong energy (702) – but the wind is cross-shore and making a mess of it. That setup, with the strong wind and significant swell, looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing.
So, in short: hold out for the morning of the 21st for a glassy session, or maybe the morning of the 20th for a clean, small wave. The rest is a bit of a write-off.
Rusty.
