Table - best surf conditions forecast for La Sauzaie over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here again. Let’s cut to the chase: the 16-day forecast for La Sauzaie is a bummer. For the first 10 days, the swell is basically nothing—under 3 feet, with energy levels that are barely a whisper. The water is a warm 71°, which is a solid 5° hotter than normal, so it feels like a bathtub, but there’s no wave to enjoy.
The first real pulse of size comes on the 23rd of July, Thursday morning, with a 5 ft swell from the WSW, but it’s got a short period of 6 seconds. The energy hits 214 (moderate). The wind is cross-on at 6 mph, so it’s a bit choppy. By the afternoon, the swell hits 8 ft with 618 energy (strong to very strong), but the wind stays cross-on at 13 mph with a short period. That’s a messy, lumpy couple of feet. That’s expert-only territory with the chop.
The 24th of July, Friday, still has power—4 ft in the morning—but the wind is howling at 19 mph from the WNW, cross-on. It’s lumpy and hard work. The afternoon is cross-shore but still fresh.
The only real standout is the 26th of July, Sunday morning. The swell is tiny at 2 ft from the W, but it’s a clean 9-second period. The wind is offshore from the NE at only 3 mph, glassy. The energy is 62 (weak), but it’s clean. You’ll find a knee-high, tidy little line. It’s a longboard-only session, but it’s the best of the lot. Same story on the 27th of July, Monday morning: 3 ft swell, 9 seconds, and a light offshore breeze from the NE at 6 mph. The energy is 103 (moderate), so you’ll get a bit more push. Clean again, but small.
La Sauzaie is a reef, and the long period will help the shape on those clean days, but it’s still small. Crowds are often a problem, so expect company on those clean mornings. For the rest of the run, the cross-on winds and short-period chop turn it into a wrestling match. The 23rd and 24th might look big on paper, but the wind and short period ruin the quality. For the bulk of this forecast, the setup looks more interesting for a kite than a paddle.
Rusty.
