La Terriere Surf Forecast and Surf Report

G’day, Rusty here. Let’s talk about what’s coming up for La Terriere. Honestly, the next couple of weeks are a real mixed bag – plenty of small, messy days and only a few windows where it might be worth paddling out. The swell stays tiny for most of the run, and the wind is often onshore or cross-onshore, so you’ll need to be patient.

The water temperature is sitting at about 71°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year – not a big deal, but you might not need a full winter suit.

The first real chance to get wet is Sunday 6 September morning. It’s small – only 2ft of west swell – but the wind is light offshore from the east at 9 mph, so it’ll be clean. The combined swell energy is weak (57), so don’t expect much push. It’s surfable, but very ordinary. If you’re a beginner, this is your window – it’s small and clean, but crowds are possible, so keep an eye out.

After that, things go pretty flat and windy. Monday through Wednesday all look poor with onshore wind and junk conditions. There’s a brief moment on Thursday 10 September morning when it goes glassy – 2ft west swell, but with only 72 combined energy, it’s still weak. Again, surfable but nothing special.

The next real standout doesn’t show up until Friday 18 September afternoon. Now we’re talking – the wind goes glassy, the swell is 3ft from the west at 11 seconds, and the combined energy is moderate (202). That’s the best of the lot. It’s still small, but it’ll be clean and there’ll be a bit more shape to the waves. This is the session to circle.

Saturday 19 September morning also looks decent with a light offshore from the east-northeast at 3 mph, 3ft west swell, but the energy drops a bit (156). Still worth a look if you missed Friday.

After that, the final week is mostly offshore wind from the east-northeast, but the swell stays small – 2ft to 3ft – and the combined energy is weak to moderate. Monday 21 September morning has a fresh offshore at 19 mph with 3ft west swell (158 energy), but that wind is strong enough to make it tricky. Probably more for the experienced crew.

Overall, the only true standout is Friday 18 September afternoon – glassy, clean, and the best energy of the whole run. Everything else is small and average. If you’re a beginner, stick to the glassy mornings with tiny swell. If you’re after something with more punch, you’ll have to wait.
