The Lowdown
Alright, folks, Rusty here. Let’s break down the next couple of weeks.
You’re gonna have to be patient. For the first few days, there’s barely a ripple. From Thursday the 23rd of July all the way through to Saturday the 2nd of August, it’s mostly flat with only tiny, weak waves. The only flicker of hope in that long stretch is Monday morning, the 27th of July, when it goes glassy with a weak 0.6m west swell, but it’s still nothing to write home about.
The real chance to get wet comes on Monday the 3rd of August. Monday morning is the one to aim for. At La Terriere, we’ve got a clean 0.9m west swell pushing in with glassy conditions. The combined energy is moderate (88), and the wind is completely still—slight air only. That’s going to be clean, fun, and perfect for beginners. The water temp is about normal for this time of year, so no surprises there. This spot can get crowded sometimes, but a Monday morning might just work in your favor.
The afternoon of the 3rd picks up a little more size—1.0m from the west with moderate energy (186)—but the wind turns cross-onshore, so it’ll get messy and choppy. Not worth it.
After that, it drops off again. The rest of the outlook through to the 7th of August is mostly small, onshore, or just poor conditions. Tuesday morning the 4th of August has a tiny clean window with a cross-off breeze, but the swell is only 0.5m, so it’s strictly a longboard or cruise session.
So, the bottom line: Monday morning, the 3rd of August, is your best bet. Everything else is pretty quiet. That’s the word.
Rusty.
