Sauveterre Surf Forecast and Surf Report

Alright folks, let’s talk shop. The honest truth is the ocean’s going to be playing hard to get for a while. Don’t be in a rush to wax up.

The first few days, up to the 13th, are looking tiny. We’re talking knee-to-waist high at best, and most of it’s a mess with cross and cross-onshore winds chopping up the surface. The water temp is sitting around 69°F, which is pretty standard for this time of year.

Your first real chance, if you can call it that, is the morning of Thursday, the 14th. Swell is small, only 2ft of west-northwest, but the wind is dead calm – glassy. It’s not going to be pumping, but for a clean waist-high wave on a longboard, it could be a fun, mellow session. Sauveterre is a beach, reef, and point setup, and it’s fairly consistent. It’s exposed to west-southwest swell, which is what we’re seeing.

After that, it gets pretty dire again. More small, choppy surf and cross-shore winds fill the rest of the week and into the weekend of the 16th and 17th. There’s a tiny flash of hope on the morning of Monday the 18th with another glassy morning and a bit more west swell (2ft), but the energy is still weak. Again, a longboard wave, not a standout.

The long-range stuff, way out around the 20th and 21st, is a distant promise at best. The swell direction shifts to the southwest, but the period drops right off and the wind is on it. Don’t bank on it.

Honestly, if you’re desperate for a paddle, the mornings of the 14th and 18th are your best bets. Utterly clean, glassy, and mellow. But don’t expect much else.

If the wind stays up and the swell stays small, the conditions on the afternoon of the 17th, with a strong cross-shore wind and a bit of swell, might be more interesting for a kite surfer than a paddle surfer.

This is one of those quiet spells. It won’t last forever, but for now, enjoy the clean water and the small, shapely waves when you can find them.
