Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, let me tell you how things are looking for Sant Martí d'Empúries over the next couple of weeks. Honestly, the whole forecast period is a bit of a bummer. There really isn't any proper surf to get excited about. From now, starting on July 6th, all the way through to July 21st, we're looking at a long stretch of tiny, weak waves and crummy conditions.
For the first week, from July 6th to the 13th, you're basically staring at an ocean that’s asleep. Swell heights are mostly between 0.7ft and 1.0ft, with periods under 5 seconds. That’s just wind chop, not real swell. The combined wave energy is pathetic, barely hitting double digits. It’s all been flagged as poor surf conditions. You'll see a few glassy or clean mornings, like Wednesday the 8th and Saturday the 11th, but with no wave height to speak of, it's flat. There is a light breeze from the WNW on the 7th and 9th that keeps it clean, but again, there's just nothing coming in.
Moving into the second week, from July 14th to the 21st, it’s the same story. The swell is still tiny, barely hitting 1ft on the 18th. The morning of Sunday, July 19th, offers the biggest surf of the whole run—a whopping 3ft! That’s still small, and it’s coming from the NNW with a period of 5 seconds. The combined energy on that morning is a meager 35. While the wind is glassy, that’s still survival mode surf, not something you’d paddle out for. The next morning, July 20th, pushes up to 4ft with a 5-second period and a combined energy of 62 – the biggest numbers we see. But it's morning is cross-shore, and the afternoon gets chopped onshore. It's still marked as poor surf conditions.
Sant Martí d'Empúries is an exposed spot, and it can handle swell from the E, but we just aren't getting it. It's an inconsistent spot for beginners, which is normal for this place. This is just a blank run for the area. If you absolutely have to get wet, Sunday the 19th morning or Monday the 20th morning look like the least-ugly options, but expectations should be on the floor. For any surfer, this setup is more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing, especially those afternoons with the ESE wind filling in.
Stay patient, folks.
