Table - best surf conditions forecast for Arna Plage over the next 16 days.
Hey, Rusty here. Gotta be honest, looking at the next 16 days at Arna Plage, there ain't much to get excited about. We don’t have any proper surf coming through. It’s a pretty bleak outlook if you’re itching for a wave.
Starting on Monday, July 13th, we see a little bump of swell around 5ft from the WNW, but it’s weak with a period of only 6 seconds and the energy is a low 178. The wind is cross-onshore from the WSW at 6 mph, mucking it up. That afternoon it drops to just under 3ft. Not good.
Tuesday the 14th starts out glassy with barely a puff of air, but the swell is down to 1ft with an energy of 12 – a total flop. The afternoon gets a 12 mph N wind, chopping up the 0.7ft leftovers. Wednesday through Friday is more of the same: small waves and onshore winds keeping everything messy. Wave energy mostly stays in the low double digits or high teens.
The water on Monday is a much warmer than normal 73°F, about 4°F above average for the time of year, so it’s not freezing, but the waves just aren’t there to enjoy it.
Saturday the 18th gives us a glassy morning with 1ft of NW groundswell at 8 seconds, energy is only 17. Maybe a good morning for a beginner to float around, but that’s the best of it. The afternoon gets blasted by a 12 mph N wind.
The next week is more of the same: clean mornings but with tiny 0.7ft to 2ft swell and barely any energy. The 23rd of July has another glassy window, but still 0.7ft of swell. It’s all tiny.
Now, things do change a bit at the very end. On Monday the 27th of July in the afternoon, a 4ft WNW swell at 9 seconds pushes the energy up to 363. But the wind is onshore at 9 mph, making it choppy. Still poor.
The biggest pulse lands on the morning of Tuesday the 28th of July: 6ft from the NW at 9 seconds, energy hitting 482. Wind is light from the NNW at 3 mph – a light cross-onshore with small ripples. This is the best looking window, but it’s still just marginal for quality. That afternoon bumps to 6ft and 604 energy, but a 9 mph cross-on chop will spoil it. This swell is too big for beginners and with the wind, it’ll be poor. Honestly at this beach, that setup might be better for kite surfing than for a surfboard.
So overall, out of the whole 16 days, there are no real standouts. If I had to pick one, it’s the morning of the 28th of July, but even that's a stretch. It’s a dry spell, plain and simple. Forecasts can flip, but right now there’s nothing calling you to the water.
Rusty.
