Table - best surf conditions forecast for Laredo over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you—this is a tough stretch for surf in Laredo. The water is a balmy 73°, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year, so that’s a nice bonus if you're just floating around. But for waves? We’re looking at a long, slow grind.
Friday, July 10th, kicks it off with tiny 2ft swell from the NW, period around 9-10 seconds, and combined energy is weak (68-74). The morning is glassy, the afternoon goes cross-off—clean but pathetic. Don’t bother. This dead spell runs right through the week. Saturday and Sunday are glassy or clean, but the swell is nothing—1ft to 2ft, energy in the dumps (as low as 36). It’s a flat spell for paddling.
We won’t see anything worth a mention until Saturday, July 18th. That morning, the swell bumps to 4ft out of the NW with a short 6-second period, and combined energy climbs to moderate (124). It’s offshore, clean, and surfable—but very ordinary. This is the only real window in the whole forecast for a beginner. It’s small, but it’s the pick of a bad bunch.
After that, it’s back to the same story. Sunday, July 19th afternoon has a little pulse (3ft, 8-second period, energy 159) and clean conditions, but it’s still weak. The week after that is a wasteland of tiny, poorly shaped swell and onshore or cross-onshore winds. The only other flicker is Wednesday, July 22nd afternoon: 3ft NW, 10-second period, energy 137, clean—but again, nothing to get excited about.
Even Saturday, July 25th, shows a bigger 4ft NW swell with energy hitting 269 to 327, but it’s cross-onshore and choppy. That’s kite-surfing territory, not paddle surfing.
So, the honest truth: there’s no standout. The best on offer is Saturday, July 18th morning. It’s small, it’s clean, and it’s your only shot at a wave. Everything else is a flat, clean, or windy mess. Better luck next time.
Rusty.
