The Lowdown

Alright, this is Rusty.

Looks like we’ve got a bit of a waiting game on our hands at Guibeleco. The next week or so is mostly a write-off with onshore winds and messy conditions, but there are a couple of absolute gems hiding in the second week that are worth circling on your calendar.

The first real glimmer of hope doesn't show up until Saturday the 19th. The morning session is the standout. We’re looking at a solid 7.2ft groundswell from the NW, with a period of 13 seconds pumping in a lot of energy (1599). And the wind? Glassy, from the ESE at only 3 mph. That’s a recipe for clean, powerful waves at this point break. This is proper, expert-level stuff though – that size with that period will be pushing hard. The swell direction is NNW optimum, so it’s a good match for the break. The afternoon sees the wind swing around and junk it up, so get it early.

Sunday the 20th morning will be a nice little follow-up. The swell drops to a cleaner 4.3ft from the NW (11s period) with light ESE winds again (3 mph) and glassy conditions (400 combined energy). It’s a much more manageable size for a wider range of surfers.

Then, Monday the 21st morning looks like another potential highlight. The swell bumps back up to 6.2ft from the NW with a very long 14-second period, pushing serious energy through the lineup (1273). The wind is glassy again from the ESE. This will be a powerful, clean day at Guibeleco, but that long period could make it a bit fast and straight at the point – still, for experienced surfers, this is the best of the bunch.

Tuesday the 22nd morning is also promising. A 5.6ft NW groundswell (13s, 1034 energy) with a light offshore cross-off breeze from the W. That will be clean and well-shaped.

Don’t get excited about the small stuff that rolls in after Wednesday the 23rd – it fades into tiny, onshore slop for the final days of the month.

So, if you’re an experienced surfer, the clear standouts are Saturday the 19th morning and Monday the 21st morning. The water temp anomaly isn't provided for Guibeleco, so I can't tell you if it's warmer or colder than usual, but with these wind forecasts, the quality will be there.

Short Range Forecast

Light rain (total 3mm), mostly falling on Tue night. Warm (max 25°C on Mon afternoon, min 18°C on Wed morning). Wind will be generally light.

Days 5-7 Weather Summary

Light rain (total 4mm), mostly falling on Wed night. Very mild (max 19°C on Wed night, min 15°C on Sat morning). Wind will be generally light.
