The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's be honest, it's a tough outlook for the Bandol area. The next 16 days are looking pretty flat and grim. We've got a long stretch of next to nothing before we see any ripples worth talking about.
From now through the first week of August, it's a write-off. Swell heights are hovering around 0.6 ft to 2 ft, with periods a measly 4 seconds. That's not surf, that's just a lake with a bit of breeze. Don't even bother checking the beach.
We finally see a glimmer of hope on the morning of Sunday, the 9th of August. The water temp is a touch warmer than normal at 76°, which is nice for a paddle, but we need waves. The morning of the 9th brings a glassy 3 ft swell from the west with a 6-second period. Still not great, but it's the first sign of life.
The only real standout, and I'm using that term loosely, is the afternoon of Sunday, the 9th of August. The swell builds to 5 ft from the west. The wind is light and cross-shore. It's still a short period (6 seconds) so it won't be anything special, but out of this whole 16-day window, this is the best you're gonna get. The morning of the 9th with the glassy conditions would be the pick. For the rest of the period after that, it just drops back into the doldrums.
So, keep your expectations on the floor. The surf is poor, and the consistent message is "poor surf conditions" across the board. If you're desperate, have a look on the 9th, but don't expect much.
