The Lowdown

Alright, Rusty here, and I gotta be straight with you – the next 16 days look like a total flat spell for this stretch. We're talking about Bandol - Les Nervis, and honestly, there's not a single session I'd paddle out for. The whole period is just a long, drawn-out gap with nothing happening.

Let's start with today, Wednesday the 26th of August. We've got a tiny 1.0ft swell from the SSW with a short 6-second period. The combined energy is a weak 16, and it's just "poor surf conditions." The water temp is sitting at 74°, which is pretty much spot on average for this time of year, nothing unusual there. Glassy wind in the morning but it's not enough to save this one.

Thursday the 27th picks up a little with that easterly wind, but it's a cross-onshore mess. Swell hits 4ft to 4ft, but period is a shocking 5 seconds, making it all wind chop. Energy is up to 89, but that's just messy power with no shape. Forget it.

Friday the 28th is a tiny 2ft with cross-shore winds. Saturday the 29th gives us some clean offshore wind (NW at 12 mph) but the swell is a pathetic 1.0ft. You'd be floating. Sunday through to the end of the first week are the same story – barely a ripple.

We roll into September, and from the 1st to the 5th, it's virtually flat. Zero energy. A few days around the 6th and 7th of September show a whisper of a swell (0.7ft), but it's useless. The rest of the window, right up to the 10th of September, is the same. The wave comment never changes: "poor surf conditions." This isn't just a slow period; this is a dead ocean for us.

Trust me, I hate to say it, but your board’s better off gathering dust. If conditions stay like this, there's nothing to recommend. This kind of blank run is more normal here than we'd like. Keep an eye on the charts – it never stays poor forever.

Rusty.
