The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cookin’ for the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, I gotta be straight with you – this is a tough one. We’re lookin’ at a 16-day window and there’s barely a ripple worth paddlin’ for. The whole outlook is a flat spell, plain and simple. For a spot like Bandol - Les Nervis, this kind of blank run is more normal than you’d hope. The water temp is a wild 79°, which is a good 8° warmer than usual for this time of year – that’s seriously unusual, almost like bathwater.
We start off with nothing. The first few days are just tiny, weak slop. Tuesday the 14th has a tiny 2ft swell from the south, but it’s a short-period 6-second windswell, and the wind is a messy cross-on. The combined energy is a paltry 33 – weak stuff. Forget it. That carries on through the rest of the week: tiny heights, poor directions, and mostly cross-onshore breezes. Thursday the 24th afternoon sees a slight bump, with a 2ft south swell and a 7-second period, giving a combined energy of 47 – still very weak. Not worth your time.
The weekend of the 26th and 27th brings some offshore winds, but the swell is laughable, barely 1ft. Clean, sure, but there’s nothing to ride.
The only faint glimmer I can see is Monday the 20th in the morning. It’s glassy, and we get a tiny 2ft swell from the WNW with a 6-second period. The combined energy is 35. It’s not good, but if you’re desperate and have a longboard, it’s the cleanest conditions of the entire run.
Bottom line: there are no good surf options in this 16-day window. The whole stretch is a dud. Don’t leave your boards at home, but don’t expect anything. Forecasts can change, but right now, it’s a waiting game.
Rusty.
