The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's take a look at what's cooking for Bandol over the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you – it's looking pretty bleak. The water is way warmer than usual for this time of year, sitting at a balmy 79°F, which is a solid 6°F above the norm. That's pretty wild, but it's about the only exciting thing happening. We're looking at a big fat gap of no real surf to start. The first few days through to the middle of next week are basically flat, with barely a ripple in the water.
The first faint glimmer of something rideable shows up on Sunday, the 16th of August, in the morning. Bandol - Les Nervis will see a tiny 3ft swell from the WSW with a short period of 5 seconds. The combined energy is only 28, so it's weak. The morning will be glassy, which is a major positive for trying to get something out of it, but it’s gonna be small and weak. The wind shifts onshore in the afternoon, so the morning session is your only real shot.
Monday the 17th looks very similar – a little 2ft groundswell from the WSW with glassy conditions in the morning. The energy drops right back to 11, so it's barely a pulse. This spot is inconsistent and mostly for beginners, and honestly, the size is right for them, but the quality just isn't there to get excited about.
Later in the week, around Wednesday the 19th, we get a tiny bump. The morning shows a 3ft swell from the WNW with a period of 6 seconds and energy of 39. It's still poor surf, but it's the biggest number we've seen in a while. The wind is cross-shore, so it won't be clean. This break is a beach and reef setup, and with this weak, short-period swell and poor quality, it looks more like a kite surfing window than anything else.
After that, it fades out again. Friday the 21st has some offshore wind, up to 18 mph, with a tiny 3ft swell from the ESE. The energy is only 16, and the direction is all wrong for this spot. It'll be windy and blown out.
Honestly, there’s no standout session here. If you're desperate for a paddle, the glassy mornings on Sunday the 16th or Monday the 17th are your only real options, but keep your expectations on the floor. A blank run like this is pretty normal for the area when the conditions line up wrong. Forecasts can change, but for now, I’d save the energy.
Rusty.
