The Lowdown

Alright, Rusty here, let’s talk about what’s on the menu for Bandol – Les Nervis.

First off, I’m not gonna sugarcoat it: the next week and a half is looking pretty flat and lackluster. There’s a big gap of nothing with no real surf recommendations right up until late in the second week. The water is sitting at 76°F right now, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year, so it’s a treat for the skin if not for the waves.

We do have a bit of a pulse showing up on Thursday the 10th. The afternoon sees a 4ft swell from the west, with a period of 6 seconds, and the wind is blowing offshore from the WNW at 12 mph. That’s clean, and the combined swell energy hits 207 (moderate energy). It’s surfable, but the conditions are still very ordinary—not a standout by any stretch.

The real highlight, the one you’d want to point your board at, comes on Friday the 11th. The morning has 6ft of west-northwest swell, with a 7 second period. The wind is glassy, which is a major positive—clean as a whistle. The combined energy is 466 (strong wave energy). This is the best on offer, but keep in mind that 6ft is getting into the size that might be too much for beginners. The break is a beach and reef setup, and it’s inconsistent here, so you’ll need to be patient and read the sets. The swell direction from the WNW is a good match for the optimum SSW direction, so it should wrap in okay.

After that, Saturday the 12th and Sunday the 13th have some swell, but the wind is howling offshore at 28 mph on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. That’s strong offshore and clean, but it’s hard to paddle into—more of a session for the experts or the kite crew. The combined energy on Saturday afternoon is 135 (moderate), and on Sunday morning it drops to 39 (weak). The setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing on those days.

From Monday the 14th onward, it basically flatlines again. There’s a tiny 3ft WNW swell on Monday afternoon, but with weak energy (34) and cross-off wind, it’s not worth getting wet for. The rest of the second week, clear through to Sunday the 20th, shows nothing but zeros and small onshore wind ripples.

So, in short: Friday morning the 11th is your window. It’s a promise, but with the inconsistency of this spot, don’t expect it to be pumping all day. The rest is a long stretch of flat or blown-out junk.

Rusty.
