Table - best surf conditions forecast for Bandol - Les Nervis over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the cards for the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, it's a grim outlook for the 16-day window. The forecast is a long stretch of flat, tiny, or blown-out conditions with no real surf to speak of. We're looking at a solid week of nothing worth paddling out for, starting from now. The only break on the map is Bandol - Les Nervis (France). It's a beach-and-reef setup, but it's rated as beginner-friendly and inconsistent, which is a warning sign straight off the bat. The water is sitting at 76.5°F, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year—over five degrees warmer, so that's a weird one.
From Thursday (9th July) right through to the middle of the month, it's a total write-off. Swell is tiny, often under 1.6ft, with periods as low as 3 to 5 seconds, and the winds are mostly onshore or cross-onshore. The combined wave energy is pathetic, barely hitting double digits (14 is the highest early on). There's one moment on the morning of Monday the 13th that's glassy, but with absolutely no swell (0 energy), it's a flat, mirror-like ocean. No good.
The pattern shifts in the third week of July, but it's still not a recommendation. From the 17th, we get strong offshore winds from the NW, which would normally be a dream, but the swell stays tiny—0.7ft to 2.3ft. The wind is so strong (25-28 mph) that even though it's offshore, it's making it a real battle to paddle out and stay in position. By the 23rd of July, the swell finally picks up to 5.6ft-5.9ft from the WNW with a period of 6 seconds, and the combined energy jumps to 230-263 (moderate energy). But the wind is still screaming offshore at 25-28 mph. That's a powerful, clean, but expert-only situation. If you're a top-level charger on a heavy board, you might find something, but for the average surfer, it's more of a kite-surfing setup than a paddle-friendly wave. Even then, the forecast scores it as poor surf conditions.
Bottom line: There are no standout options here. This is a classic blank run for the area. The first week is flat, and the second week offers a brief window of messy, tricky conditions that are only for the very determined. Forecasts can change, but right now, leave the boards at home.
