The Lowdown
G’day, I’m Rusty. Let’s break down what’s happening over the next couple of weeks. Honestly, it’s a quiet spell. The first week and a half is mostly flat or tiny, with winds and conditions just not playing ball. There’s a big dry gap from now until Tuesday 25 August when we finally get something worth a look. Up until then, it’s slim pickings.
The one real highlight is Tuesday 25 August. The morning session is the go. We’ve got a moderate offshore breeze from the WNW at 15 mph, keeping the surface clean. Swell is running about 6 feet from the WNW with a period of 6 seconds, and the combined energy is a solid moderate 274. That’s punchy, fun-sized waves. At Bandol - Les Nervis – a beach and reef zone that’s inconsistent but clean in those conditions – it’ll be worth the effort. The water temp is a very unusual 82°, much warmer than average for the time of year. Crowds can show up sometimes, so plan for company. The afternoon stays clean but the wind ramps up to a fresh 22 mph, making things harder to handle.
Before that, there’s a tiny bump of 4 feet on the morning of Tuesday 18 August with a light offshore from the NNW at 9 mph, but the energy is weak at 80, and it’s just ordinary.
After the 25th, it drops off again into small, clean but weak surf through the 27th and 28th, with waves topping out around 2 feet and energy readings stuck in the low teens to 30s. Not much to chase.
