Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, let’s get real. This is a tough stretch for surfing around here. The whole 16-day window is essentially a flat spell with a couple of tiny, fleeting moments that might get you wet, but don’t expect anything worth writing home about.
Right now, the only break on the cards is Bandol - Les Nervis (France). It’s a beach and reef setup that’s inconsistent and rarely breaks, so we’re already up against it. The water is sitting at a very unusual 78°, which is way warmer than you’d expect for this time of year – that’s the one strange bright spot.
The first action, if you can call it that, is on Friday, July 3rd morning. We’ve got a tiny 3ft wave from the west with a short period of 7 seconds and a combined energy of just 102 (weak). The wind is a light cross-off from the north at 3 mph, so it’ll be clean. But let’s be honest, it’s ankle-to-knee high and the energy is pathetic. It’s surfable, but ‘very ordinary conditions’ is an understatement. That afternoon the wind swings onshore and it’s gone.
After that, it’s a desert. From Saturday, July 4th all the way through to Monday, July 13th, you’re looking at swell heights that barely scrape 2ft, with periods of 4-6 seconds and combined energy readings that are mostly single digits. The wind is a mix of cross and onshore, so it’s messy and flat. There’s even a glassy morning on Tuesday, July 7th with 0.3ft – that’s not surf, that’s a lake.
The only other tiny blip is on Tuesday, July 14th afternoon. A 3ft west swell shows up, period of 6 seconds, combined energy of 82 (still weak). The wind is a clean cross-off at 9 mph, so it’ll look tidy. But again, it’s weak, short period, and the break is inconsistent. It’s a ‘surfable but very ordinary’ situation.
Bottom line: This is a blank run. There’s nothing substantial on offer. The area is just not firing in this 16-day window. For a spot that’s already inconsistent, a run like this is pretty normal. Don’t hold your breath. If you’re desperate, bring a longboard and a lot of patience for that Friday morning or the Tuesday afternoon, but don’t say I didn’t warn you.
