The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you about the next couple of weeks at Bandol. It’s a pretty quiet stretch, and I’m not gonna sugarcoat it – there’s a whole lot of nothing on the menu. The first real nod we get doesn’t come until the 26th of July, so you’re looking at a flat spell for the next few days.
The first bit of interest pops up on Sunday afternoon the 26th. We’ve got a 4ft swell rolling in from the west, with a period of 7 seconds. The combined energy of all swells directed here is moderate (129). The wind is a clean cross-offshore from the west at 6 mph, so the beach and reef setup at Bandol - Les Nervis should be looking tidy. It’s a small wave, nothing too pushy, but it’s the best we’ll see for a while. Keep in mind this break is inconsistent and can be a bit of a gamble, so don’t get your hopes up too high.
After that little pulse, the energy just fades away again. The water temp is sitting around what you’d expect for this time of year, nothing wild. The rest of the forecast through to the 7th of August is mostly tiny, weak, and choppy. You’ll see a few mornings with glassy conditions, like the 30th of July and the 3rd of August, but the swell is so small – under 2ft – it’s barely a ripple. A couple of afternoons kick up a bit of wind, making it messy.
Honestly, this is a tough outlook. If you’re keen, Sunday the 26th afternoon is your only real window, and it’s a small one. The rest is a write-off for proper paddle surfing. The setup is so poor for most of the period that it’s more interesting for a kite surfer than a surfer.
Rusty.
