The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on offer for the Bandol area.
Honestly, mate, it's a bit of a flat spell we're looking at. For the next 16 days, the pickings are slim to none. The swell window just isn't lining up for us, and most of what does show is weak, small, and messy. You're going to see a lot of days where the wave energy is barely there, which is pretty weak stuff.
The only real spot mentioned is Bandol - Les Nervis (beach and reef). It's an inconsistent spot, and frankly, there's nothing in the forecast that would make me recommend paddling out for a proper session. The water temp is sitting at 75°, which is about normal for this time of year, so at least you won't freeze waiting for a wave that never comes.
The first week is a write-off. From Saturday the 22nd right through to the end of August, you're looking at tiny, short-period swells from the SW and W. The few times we get a bit of shape, like the moderate offshore wind on Saturday the 22nd morning, the swell is only 1ft with a period of 6 seconds. Weak and gutless. That clear morning with an offshore breeze will look pretty, but there's nothing to ride.
The pattern doesn't change much into early September. The second week of the forecast is more of the same. We see occasional clean conditions, like on the morning of the 1st of September with light offshore winds, but the swell is a paltry 1ft at 4 seconds. It's barely a ripple. The biggest "swell" event in the whole window looks to be late August, with the ENE cross-onshore wind messing up a 2ft wave on the afternoon of the 25th of August. Even then, it's unsurfable.
For a spot that's already inconsistent, a blank run like this isn't unusual for the area. There are no standouts. None. The best advice I can give is to keep an eye on the charts for a shift in the wind or a proper swell pulse, because this run of poor conditions has to break eventually. But for now, leave the board in the car.
Rusty.
