Alright, this is Rusty. Let's talk about what we've got lined up for Bidart.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you: this 16-day window is a tough one. We’re looking at a stretch of small, mostly onshore conditions that’s going to test your patience. The first real glimmer of something worthwhile doesn't show up until the morning of Monday the 6th, and even then it's just ordinary. Most of the first week is blown out or too weak to get excited about.
The water temp is sitting at a balmy 75°, which is a whopping 7° warmer than normal for this time of year. That’s a proper anomaly—water that feels like a warm bath, which is nice for the wait between sets.
Let's break it down. Friday the 3rd kicks off with poor surf, onshore wind, and a weak 3ft swell from the NW with only moderate energy (193). It’s a write-off. Saturday is marginal at best. Sunday is tiny. The only surfable window in that first week is the morning of Monday the 6th. It’s not much—2ft from the NW, a bit of a clean look thanks to a light cross-off breeze, but the energy is weak (66). It’s surfable, but don’t expect much.
We go through a long, flat, and poor stretch until the morning of Thursday the 9th. That morning, we get glassy conditions, a rare treat, with a 1ft swell. The energy is still weak (57). It’s surfable, but tiny.
The next notable window comes on Saturday the 11th. Morning has glassy conditions again and a 2ft NW swell with a period of 12 seconds. That longer period (111 energy) will give it some shape, but it’s still a knee-high affair. The afternoon gets choppy.
Sunday the 12th morning is glassy again with a 2ft NW swell. It’s another small, clean window. Then Monday the 13th morning is also glassy with a 3ft NW swell, but the period drops to 8 seconds (102 energy). It’s clean, but the short period makes it a bit walled-up and less exciting.
The only real standout in this whole two-week span lands on the morning of Saturday the 18th. The conditions look good with light offshore winds from the NW, glassy water, and a 3ft swell from the WNW. The energy is back up to moderate (140). For this stretch, that’s as good as it gets. It’s clean and has the best size we see. It’s still a bit on the smaller side, but for a patient surfer, that morning window is the one to target. Remember, it’s still over a week away, so keep a close eye on the forecasts.
Bottom line: the first week is mostly a bust. There are a few small, glassy windows in the second week, but the clear winner is Saturday the 18th morning. Bring a log and hope for that longer-period swell to fill in a touch more.
